What is a nightmare you've had that during the dream terrified you, but after waking up you realized that it's not something that would normally scare you?

A nightmare I've had twice recently was that my natural roots were showing in my hair (I dye my hair). I wake up and I thought, "Why on earth would I be scared about my roots showing when I'm going to dye it soon?"
Thanks for this!

I was at the local mall talking to this guy who had a rutabaga for a head. I had never seen a rutabaga before but I just KNEW that's what it was. He had a normal face but then it faded back into rutabaga. While we're talking a guy walks up and sits a chair down behind him. The stranger sits down, pulls out a spoon and starts eating the back of his head! The guy keeps talking to me as if his head isn't being eaten and inside I'm screaming and wanting to run but outwardly I just continue on with the conversation like nothing's wrong.

I woke up on the verge of a panic attack and then thought to myself RUTABAGA HEAD????? REALLY?!!? What the heck was that about? Then it became funny that I had been so overwhelmingly terrified in the dream. Plus I had to get up to google rutabaga to see if that's what one really looked like and I'll be darned it was indeed a rutabaga.

I can't I've ever had a dream that scared me. Every dream I have is pretty bizarre though.

Unfortunately, all my nightmares are always something that scares the bejeebus out of me during the day as well.

Lol!!! RaindropVamp...Thank you for sharing & for providing the visual! I apologize in advance, if I laughed at your panic-attack expense. Certain images have meanings in dreams that can often be interpreted. I wonder what Rutabagas signify? Again, Thanks for sharing it!

No need to apologize Once I got over the panic even I was laughing because it was like what the hell??? Seriously who dreams of a rutabaga head? To this day I do not understand why that dream filled me with such terror at the time.

I can't even think of one, there are so many. Since going on lamotrigine, all of my dreams have been seriously effed up!! It can be entertaining when they're not terrifying, I suppose..

My strangest dream would be when i dreamed I was a Red Indian on my own brown horse, fighting along my fellow clansman against the American forces. It was so vivid.

Hehe,
I woke up ready for battle.

One strange dream was about 30 years ago; I dreamt that one the main characters from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was my cousin. I was court ordered to be his "guardian" while he "recovered." He was really trying to turn his life around but he wouldn't put down the chainsaw! When we would go out, he would get so excited about making new friends, that he would actually end up scaring everyone away.
I kept getting after him. and told him that, if he didn't calm and put down the chainsaw, I was gonna drop him like a hot potato. Finally, one day when we were thrift store shopping, he saw a bunch of kids playing in the water fountain at the local park. He got so excited, that he ran after them wanting to play, that everyone freaked out and left screaming. I yelled at him and told him that was it! I was done. I did not care if I got in trouble with the judge, but Mr. Chainsaw was not coming home with me and I was officially disowning him. I left him standing there in the water fountain wondering what he did wrong.

Last night, I had Rumplestiltskin on my back in 6 consecutive dreams. In each dream he choked me everytime I tried to tell someone I wasn't doing too well...

Of course nobody else saw the little bugger and the last dream I was losing consciousness, so I woke up in a blind panic unable to breath, my throat constricted and tender.

I could not sleep after that, it was terrifying and bazaar as hell. Although now in the light of day I'm like who the hell gets scared of a big nosed dude no bigger than a 2 year old????

Stupid dream

I went to see a play with my cousin. During intermission I got up and wondered into the room next door which turned into a huge shop where a guy in black was following me. I ran though the honey section then the bread section into a Castile where the guy in black turned into a black knight on a black horse chasing me up stone stairs.. Then I pretended to duck into a circular stone stair way going down, he followed and fell into the dungeon. I continued up to the top and stepped into a very long hall. There was a huge set of very white double doors at the end of the hall that lead into an all white room. The room was so beautiful. There was a huge canopy bed in the center with the most gorgeous man in the center of the bed. As I got closer he started turning black and peeled open to reveal the most disgusting being at the same time the room turned dark with blood running down the walls I was caught, enthralled full of wonder and full of fear but I couldn't get out...I was like a fly on a spider web.

It's a dream I've never been able to forget. The message to me was no matter how good something looks on the outside, no matter how nice someone appears to be, it can be deceiving.
