Okay peoples,

Here's the deal. In my life, there is really only two things: study and sleep. When I'm not doing either of them, I'm hoping one of my friends is going to email me. My friend has a busy life - job, family, her own friends - so that doesn't happen nearly often as much as I'd like. I've come to the conclusion that I need a good hobby to take my mind off things.

So that's where this comes in. I'm not sure what to try, so I'm asking for your help. If you wanna know a bit more about me, I'm early 20s, female, good on computers and don't have nearly as much talent as I'd like in Art. In the past I would write to pass the time, but that doesn't feel like me anymore. My friend says its natural that things change priority when I get older, but I'm left with confusion about what I should be doing or what I would like to do. Study is great, but I can't do it all the time. That leads to burnout and that's never good.

So, give me ideas of things to try!

Watch movies, documentaries? Exercise? Sports? Video games? Drawing? Reading books or comics? Art and crafts? Produce videos and put them on youtube?

Yes photography, something creative. Or learn to play an instrument.

I just learned to crochet a few months ago. There are a ton of Youtube videos that are easy to follow. It's great while I'm watching TV or listening to a book on tape.

I love knitting, acrylic painting (I always sketch what I'm painting before I paint), I really love beading but that can get expensive at times (like I go crazy because if I find something I like I will buy it for a future project). I loved playing racquetball at the club...always could find a game with someone. For relaxation, I will at times put a movie in my computer & watch that....also I love to investigate information on YouTube. There are areas of information that I'm very interested in....some of those YouTube video's are over 3 hours long....usually my computer crashes before the end because of the adobe flash plug in's get lost. Honestly I've been doing a lot of knitting lately. It's my most relaxing thing to do as I also design patterns of things I want to make while I'm making them.

Usually the only time I have time for my hobbies is in the winter because I own a 10 acre farm by myself & work around the farm & in the house takes ALL my time. My expensive hobby is my horse riding.....I love to go trail riding with my friends & if I had more money I would be taking lessons & showing Dressage.....winter sports are my fav....love to put on snow shoes & go hiking or x-country skiis......those things don't cost

all of the above
You might want to cruise the net, or a craft store for ideas...see what appeals to you...
I knit, walk, take photos...hopefully I will get back to sewing----planning on the summer when I will be in the same place for a length of time...
or, I have been thinking of doing a quilt by hand (have needle & thread, and need to go to thrift shops for "fabric" which can come in the form of clothing, actual fabric pieces etc. It is a very "take along" and soothing thing....knitting is also good, doing some now, but I love expensive yarn---so, I am going to look for good wool sweaters in thrift shops that can be recycled----you unravel, wrap the yarn around a coat hanger/other, and steam it to relax the yarn, and voila, nice yarn, and lots of it for the initial investment of a few dollars....
I also do crosswords...read...

Birdwatching is a lot of fun. You get outdoors and meet all sorts of neat people, not as "earthy/crunchy" as one might assume. It is peaceful, you get exercise and fresh air, and the time flies when you're out trying to find birds. We take it for granted but birds are interesting critters.

Your local Audubon Society will have all sorts of information about programs. The walks usually focus on birds in general, migrant hawks, owls, shorebirds, songbirds, warblers, etc. It is a great stress reliever and a lifetime hobby that doesn't require a lot of money.

Knitting and sewing bees are big in the UK at the moment, I myself ( even though I'm a man ),
Have to alter a Lot of my clothes , narrowing trouser legs shirts , so it can be a hobby but also practical, a bit like making home made beer .
