Well...I believe in a higher being, and I call that being God...mostly so other's will understand where I'm coming from. I guess I could call it Harry, or Sandy, but I think that would just confuse people and make them look at me more sideways then they already do.

I do not, however, refer to myself as being religious. I am more of a Spiritual person. I believe in spirits, and angels, and I do talk with this higher being from time to time, but I definitely have my own set of beliefs that don't fit with any particular set of organized belief. I just believe what I know to be true (for myself) in my heart.

So...I say Spiritual, but others might say religious.

The poll is far too vague. Define religious and I can be more specific with my answer to the question.

I am, however more as Elysium, as far as believing in the Spiritual energy, rather than of the confinement to the political religions.

When I talk of our "creator", I use the name God,as well ...(saves on having to explain further). It is a name which has been associated with the superior being.

Although born and raised Catholic, my "church" is in heart. I haven't been in a church since shortly after I left 8th grade.

Church..or any congregation is great for those who believe in it. To each their own.
My practice is carried in heart, therefore is not limited within any set structured enviorment which relys upon the union of others in order to practice it.
And although there are many who do not follow suit, I have found that many congregational religions are quite hypocritical in the practice of their beliefs. For some reason, they seemingly limit their practice to those moments shared within their routined structure, and upon leaving that, so does their practice.
I am not judging anyone....Just sharing some observations....lol.

A simple theory of mine: Treat others as you hope to be treated in return.
Also....Smiling is contagious....to most, anyway. What better thing to spread....(other than perhaps some creamy peanutbutter partnered with some strawberry preserves...yummiezzzz).

I go to church on a regular basis. I'm very active in my church but I also have a spiritual side. I believe that the holy spirit is with me each moment of each day. I often pray to God because it helps me feel better and it makes me feel like I can touch the lives of others. Hope this doesn't offend anyone. Gordonsetter

I can't really believe in an intangible god. It would, however, be convenient to have a god to rescue me from all life's problems. But, we're all in it by ourselves.

Every bone in my body is religious! LOL!

And the Golden Rule has been found in every faith; eastern and western.
Since we don't discuss religion here, I'll send it to anyone who wants it. Just PM me.

Peace!

I'm involved in my spiirtual community and I have a daily practice, but I don't consider myself 'religious' in any way.

i think it kind of depends on what you mean by religious. if you mean do you have faith in a higher power (for me it's God) and actively follow that higher power, then i'd say yes.

the term "religious" has rather negative connotations for some people. they might use "spiritual" instead but what that means will vary from person to person. i guess i'm both but i'm not sure i'm entirely comfortable with either term as there are so many misunderstandings with both of them.

I am religious with certain reservations. I became religious as the result of a "Damascus Road' type conversion experience 64 years ago.
To describe briefly and inadequately, I was unexpectedly confronted absolutely out of the blue,by an invisible but fully tangible Presence I interpret as God who communicated with me Spirit to spirit, very plainly, real as a rock. I was given correction on my life path and experienced immersion in the Loving Light often described in Near Death Experiences. I was in very good health and iMHO, not at all delusional. Yes, the sanity test says I am sane though it gave me a 5 on Schizoprenia. My total score was 40.
