If someone significant dies in a movie I am pretty much guaranteed to cry!

I recently watched Odd Thomas. I cried at the end when Oddie realizes that Stormy is dead and he has to let her go.

Aww...I too cried at Old Yeller & Where the Red Fern Grows. Hadn't seen The Yearling yet, but something tells me i need to have the tissue box nearby! ;-)

I cry at the drop of a hat these days, but I didn't used to cry at movies.

Back in my "tough" days My Girl and The Man in the Moon were the movies that could break me down everytime.

The movie was Turner and Hooch. I bawled when the dog was shot! I was soooo mad at the movie makers. They spend the whole movie working to get viewers to like the dog, then they kill him off!!!

I used to cry a lot over movies, I thought for sure I would sob through American Sniper but I found that I was trying to comfort my fiancé as he served in the war and the movie was more of a trigger. I did tear up but no full on crying. Titanic didn't phase me until the credits then I cried.

I bawled my eyes out watching The Green Mile. I don't think any movie death ever hit me like that one. I'm a pretty easy target to at least get to tear up otherwise.

I've actually never cried during a movie. (Lol, I mentioned crying once and my oldest boy said, "Oh bull, Dad doesn't cry. I've never seen you cry. )

BUT! I couldn't finish watching A Pursuit of Happyness. It just hit waaaay to hard having been homeless for while.

And then there was Grave of the Fireflies.
Do you cry during sad movies (what were some of them)?
Quote:
A devastating meditation on the human cost of war, this animated tale follows Seita (Tsutomu Tatsumi), a teenager charged with the care of his younger sister, Setsuko (Ayano Shiraishi), after an American firebombing during World War II separates the two children from their parents. Their tale of survival is as heartbreaking as it is true to life. The siblings rely completely on each other and struggle against all odds to stay together and stay alive.
It was literally the most upsetting movie I've ever watched and had they not broken the tension at the end of the movie by showing the good times that Seita and his sister had together I would have been a blubbering and bawling baby.

I saw a review that said something like:

Quote:
You'll read that Grave of the Fireflies is stunning, amazing, thought-provoking, but you'll never hear the word "entertaining" used to describe Grave of the Fireflies. It is literally as far from entertaining as a movie could possibly get.

Persepolis was another moving animated movie.

This movie affected a few men I know. I suppose the responsibility of being a father and the stress of finding work. My dad was exhausted and irritable after watching it.

This movie depicted the reality of its time but today it's true for a father with kids too. There's shelters for men, for both women and men, for women with children and for abused women with and without children....but for men with children or abused men, almost nothing.

For homeless parents it's very hard since most shelters kick you out in the morning and you can't come back until super time. If your kids are under school age that's hard, very hard to look foe jobs or help. I think of all the shelters I was at only one allowed the moms of children under 5 to stay during the day. It was a women's only shelter. All other children were enrolled in a nearby school. My friend at the time who had cancer had to leave during the day too.

It's a harsh way to live. I couldn't finish watching this movie even though I knew it was a happy outcome.

"Dances with Wolves" does make me cry when he tries to say goodbye to Smiles a Lot and his best friend yells to him from the cliff. It gets me every time!

"Gorillas in the Mist" gets to me as well, as do most movies that include animal-harm.
