For many years, I felt like people were abusing my kindness or goodness and it would make me angry and paranoid. I would rant and rave and not be able to think clearly or to cope. Perhaps I'm not all that good at dealing with people, but that's the way it usually went.

My wife and I are in the process of selling our home to buy another one. I take Depakote now and I can be much more measured in my thinking without taking things personally. We just lost a deal on our home because we couldn't come to terms with the buyer - they wanted us to change this, update that, fix this, etc. They were just pimping us down so we told them to take a hike Back to Square One we go.

BD (before Depakote), I would say all sorts of kooky things. Now, I'd like to think I'm more even. They asked us for a counter-offer and this is what I said -

The Godfather clip was awesome. Selling a home and buying another one is an enormous stress fest under the best conditions: appraisals, inspections, disclosures, escrow, mortgage approval... Take good care of yourself through this process and don't let anyone stress you out because enough stress can make the disease shine right through the Depakote. I think it's great that you held your ground. There will be other prospective buyers. I was just talking with an old and experienced realtor friend and he told me that the word around his office is that the market is changing; prices are at an all-time high but interest rates can't stay so low forever and a reasonable rise in rates could have tectonic effects on the housing market. People are motivated to buy now despite the high prices because we may never see interest rates this low again in our lifetimes. Good luck.

Try and relax and if you are not in a hurry to sale then hold out for a good offer. When we put our house on the market we go 2 offers within a couple of days. We picked one then put in an offer on another house. We thought everything was fine. 2 weeks later they pulled out so we were back like you to square one.

Then I got sick. i have lupus and was really sick but he house had to go back on the market or we would loose the house we wanted. Someone came in with a really low offer. It was insulating but we had another offer and we took that.

My point is try not to stress and hold out for the offer you want. This is the season when people sale an buy houses. Just wait you will get the offer you want.

Good luck

Thanks - the people wanted to drill holes in my basement floor to check on the water table. I think you can conjure up what my response was. Talk about insulting.......

I would have had a few choice words for them.

When we bought this house the people did not want to tell us were the crawl space was. We were buying the house AS IS but we still wanted reports so we knew what we were up against. Our realtor had a few choice words for their realtor. The crawl space showed we needed to tent the house for termites. I guess they thought we would pull out but there was no active nest so we had the house tented before we moved in which is the best thing to do.

Selling a house is a big big pain in the butt
