Last night I was very anxious and I decided to make someone a friendship bracelet. It did not take me long other than getting the strings all the right length but once I was done I felt so much better.
Does anyone else have any ideas of what else I can do for mindfulness? Thanks! |

I just try to "stay in the moment" and catch myself before I say or do something I regret. Before my BP diagnosis, I didn't have a filter and said a lot of things I shouldn't have said. It takes a lot of practice and patience and we learn as we go. As a pre-prep, I'll meditate and continue to remind myself that things like work *permanently* take a back seat to me. Without being arrogant, I make it all about ME now.
I like to term it "winding down" or "kicking down". I was always "on" and keyed up about everything. That emotion got in the way and it made my mind race to a point where I was paranoid. Add in the quick ups and downs of hypomania and depression and things sort of spin out of control. Now, I just sort of let it ride. |

I enjoy listening to music ... Or going for a swim ... Doesn't need to be a fast swim - I usually swim pretty slowly but just focus on my breathing

I do listen to music. I just need a free website that I can go to and get some music that is soothing to children. Does anyone know of any?
Thanks! |

You can do pretty much anything mindfully even chores! It's just about paying attention to what you are experiencing in the moment.
Things I do are taking a mindful shower and focusing on the feel of the water, smell of the soap etc. I also do a bit of colouring, read, do my nails, watch TV, cook, play computer games and many other things as mindfulness excercises. There are tons of good ideas on the internet. When your mind wanders (and it will) just gently bring your attention back to the moment. Try to practise a non judgemental stance, nothing is 'good' or 'bad' or 'stupid' just observe factually what is with acceptance. It takes a lot of practise but I've found it extremely helpful especially for anxiety. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
