nothemama, that sounds good to me, I didn't think of that, and it makes sense. My grandma use to jar things and I forgot over the years how she picked the stuff up.
Maybe she used the old fashion pot holder/mitts that had asbesto inside of them?

LOL!!! It reminds me of this plastic and velcro device I got my mom that helps her put her socks on. LOL!!
