Just wanted to share.....

I had a Yard Sale today to get rid of many things that are just laying around..... and, Guess WHAT?

One mans junk is defiantly another man treasure...... for I made $130 today.

NOW I AM.... going to bed (need a nap) for being out in the sun for eight hot straight hours sure takes its toll on the old body..... ouch.

PIZZA tonight - No Cooking for ME - I am drained.
My son is taking care of tomorrows Yard Sale and he gets a take a what he sales.

We are having a neighborhood garage sale on Saturday the 19th. There is a lot of junk in the garage, plus I have a lot of my father's old stuff. We finally sold his house last month, and I kept things that might be sellable.

We do this twice a year in our neighborhood. About 20 houses or more will be involved.

I saw this post & it reminded me of what they do in Kentucky......When arrived for the closing of escrow, everyone was talking about the 68 yard sale. I couldn't figure that out....but then they explained that all along highway 68, everyone had a location for part of the yard sale.

Then just before I was leaving for California so work on packing up my home here, they were talking about the 127 yard sale. This is a huge highway that runs from Louisville all the way south through central Kentucky. Houses & businesses that are along that highway set out things for the yard sale.....people rent out locations for others to set up for the yard sale. Even the church that I go to in the neighboring town set up a location at one of the members houses along the highway & sold a lot of things that had been donated for the yardsale. They ended up making around $500 over the 3 day sale for the building fund. The local lumber yard put out all their items like house windows & doors in the parking lot along the highway.....to sell what ever they cold sell. It was the most amazing thing this Californian had ever seen.

Only problem is that is can be dangerous driving along the highway when the person in front of you decided that he saw something back there that he was interested in.....there go the screeching breaks & a pile-up.

It sure is a new way of life.

Yard sales are a great way to raise money. My Kiwanis Club had a runnage sale in the parking lot of our local Do-It Center in July. People from all over town donated stuff, and members of our club worked all day. One guy donated a chipper/shredder, which sold for about $150.00. We raised almost $1,000.00 for local children's charities that day.
