Is there anyone else in here that has this computer? I bought it from best buy for around $222 on sale. I also just reserved my upgrade to Windows 10. Hopefully it's ready for me soon. So far the internet seems to be working fine on this computer. Though the downside of this computer is that there is no DVD drive to download things on the computer. I will attempt to use the external DVD drive I have in the future. I also like that the computer is so small and compact. It won't hold much cuz it's hard drive is so small. But this is only my back up computer. My desktop PC just crapped out sometime this week so I had to get a cheap back up computer. eventually, I am hoping to get a bigger back up laptop and a desktop PC. The only thing I hate about this mini-laptop is that it doesn't have a internal disk drive. Otherwise, I really like it.

Hi Angelwings.

Does your startup screen say Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. In that case you might be able to upgrade to windows 10 might you might check how much memory you have to see if Windows 10 will perform well.

If not, the description you give leaves me guessing you might have a Chromebook that is designed on the Chrome Internet Browser. Check how long it takes to start up. If it is 5-10 seconds then it could be a chromebook.

In either case there are USB slots that you can save files on with a flash drive or jump drive.

Lots (I would say most) of laptops don't have optical drives anymore. It's to make them smaller, but also it's because it's really an outdated technology.

You can usually use a separate, external drive that hooks up via USB. But honestly, for most people, for most uses, you could go the entire life of the laptop not once needing to. Software is generally downloaded from the Internet now, not installed from a disc. And files can be saved to a USB drive instead of a disc.
