Sitting here in the dark - what a humbling experience. Now I get to be alone with my thoughts - this could be dangerous. I was playing some old Clapton (Cream) what a great guitar player he was in his youth. Yeah I started to reflect on this missed opportunities and all the wasted time I spent, well, wasted. Some names and faces came back, Judy, Kathy, Allen, Robin, people I wish I would have gotten closer to but I was too stupid and lost at the time. Gee I hope my iPad battery doesn't run out before the power comes back on or I may have to go to bed and wait. You know I imagine death is like this - the lights just go out - I always thought that was a disturbing end to things. Growing wings and drifting into a cloud sounds better as long there is something to do in that cloud. This room sure is dark I keep walking around trying to turn the lights on - I'm getting so senile. I can barely see my hand - this would be a great time for a spiritual vision as long as the spirit brings a flashlight and maybe some Chinese take out.

I hate when the power goes out. Everything just seems to come to a stop. I'm glad you still have your iPad, hope the battery lasts. Maybe the lights will be back on soon.

We had an ice storm here the 2nd winter after I moved here from sunny California....the power went out on Tuesday & they didn't get it back on until the following Sunday & that was very intermittent. No light, no way to cook & no way to heat the house in the middle of winter. No water. First night my cell phone battery had died without a way to charge it & I didn't have a car charger at that time for the new phone I had just got. I went out to buy a gas powered generator & on the way home I stopped by our police department & charged my phone in their lobby because I knew it was a safe place after being totally new to the location. I used battery powered candles & by Thursday night the flicker of the candles were making the walls close in on me & I had the worst panic attack after almost going into hypothermia earlier that day after taking care of my neighbor's 22 horses....feeding & breaking up the frozen water. That was the longest time of having no electricity I had ever experienced & I was living all alone with my 6 eskie dogs.

LOL....I live at the end of the electric line of our electric company & I experience EVERYTHING that happens along the line. We have had such bad storms this summer & for awhile my lights were going down once a day but only for less than a minute...enough to knock out my computer & all my digital clocks. I am the one that always calls the electric company in our area so they know me really well. They couldn't figure it out the first time & it kept doing it.....but this last time is seems they found the problem because for weeks I've had NORMAL electricity without any downs.

LOL....I also had an old transformer on my electric pole & the birds would land on it & short it out. I was continually having power outages at that point & they would come out & find a poor little dead bird under the pole. Electric company was great, they said....you need a new transformer & got right on it.....insulated one that is bird & squirrel friendly & haven't had any of that kind of problem since & they saved a lot of birds lives.

It is horrible to be without electricity....even at night when we are sleeping anyway. I always have some lights on because I hate the dark living alone, I want to be able to see anything that's going on in my house if I wake up in the middle of the night.

Hope you get your lights back on soon.

I remember an outage one Christmas Eve - amazing how much of our seasonal celebration relies on electricity. How did we get to be so dependent on technology? It's humbling and gives us a little window into what life used to be like before these inventions we take for granted.

Hope your power is back on now.

hate power outages.

you really don't realise how much you rely on power until it's gone.

i remember once not being able to get breakfast for 4 or so hours (and by the time i did, it was lunch time!)

at least i can light candles though... that's some light at least
