Just curious, has anyone noticed a significant decrease in tolerance to alcohol since they went on medications? I used to be able to drink a 30 case and drive home fine with zero incidents from the bar. I was even pulled over once and talked my way out of it after 17 rum and cokes. Now I have ten and absolutely need an uber. Weird. Any thoughts?

I can't remember how antidepressants affected alcohol, because it was 15 years ago. It seems like drinking was no longer fun when I was taking antidepressants. |

Either way, that's a lot of alcohol. Please be safe.

I agree, that really is a lot of alcohol to be drinking, especially when driving. I am almost 4 months sober, luckily for me, I don't drive. But when I mixed my sleeping med with alcohol, even though I fought it, I would almost always black out.
Yes, please be safe.

Alcohol is a depressant. Maybe if you kicked the alcohol to the curb, your depression would lift a bit? Just a thought.

I am a bourbon drinker but I drink very little, usually only one drink.
I noticed the effect of the meds as soon as I went on them.

I wouldn't be proud of that. Please don't do it. The children next door to me growing up were left orphans.
With that said... We shouldn't be consuming alcohol at all on our medications but I admit I cheat on the ocassional special event or evening. And yes, I DO notice a significant measure of reduction in alcohol tolerance. Two glasses of wine and I'm pretty much gone. I wouldn't even drive on ONE drink. |
