Thanks, ally88! Has anyone here had a checkout job? Glad you like the work.

I had an induction day today...I thought it'd be learning how to work the till, but it was just health and safety, mostly. There was a lot to take in, though! Has anyone here had a checkout job? Luckily I got given a booklet as well, so hopefully that'll help me remember. Has anyone here had a checkout job?

Checkout training is on the first day of work...I'm a bit worried about that, because someone I know who works at a different store said his "checkout training" basically consisted of him being put in front of a till and left there! Has anyone here had a checkout job? That was a different company, though.

Hey Rio, I work at Asda on the checkouts in the holidays...

Good you've got the job Has anyone here had a checkout job?

You probably won't get much training, my first week of hours was supposed to be training for five days 9-5, but really I had training the first morning and then was put on a till - but not properly, I had somebody there with me in case I got stuck. I think it was like that for a week, then I was put on a till on my own Has anyone here had a checkout job? It's not so bad though, people often guess if you're new, or you can tell them anyway, and then if they're nasty someone else will tell them off Has anyone here had a checkout job?

All the vegatable and fruit codes are a pain to remember, I suppose you'd have those too (I work at Asda) but over time you get used to it.

Thanks, silver_queen. Has anyone here had a checkout job?

That sounds quite similar to the training I'm supposed to be getting. They didn't say how long the person stays with you, but by the sound of things there's usually a team leader or someone similar hanging around, so that's good. (For the customers as much as the staff - the store where I'll be working has recently added a couple of self-service checkouts, and although they tried to make them as simple as possible people still keep having problems...myself included! Has anyone here had a checkout job? Think I've got the hang of them now, though. Has anyone here had a checkout job?)

Is there a book of the codes, or do you have to learn them? My memory's terrible... Has anyone here had a checkout job?
