Oh, we'll have the usual fixings....ham, mashed potatoes, dressing, a few different casseroles/hot dishes. However, my favorite dish is always the whipped cherry salad. Its made from whipped cream, cherry pie filling, mini marshmallows, sweetened condensed milk, a dash of lemon juice, and chopped nuts for a bit of crunch. It's like dessert, but you have it with main course, THEN you have dessert (pumpkin and pecan pies).

The holidays just aren't the same without whipped cherry salad.

They switched my schedule, and I now have to work Thanksgiving; so we will be doing Thanksgiving today. Fortunately we can all be together today and that's what it is about. Good thing too that already had everything ready for tomorrow and even if didn't, at least the stores are still open today.

Okay everyone now that you have made me incredibly hungry, what about having a party in the chat room on Thanksgiving Day from 3pm-5pm or later EST?

It does not have to be an organized thing. If you are in the area, you just might see a room entitled. Party for Thanksgiving Day

What do you think? It is definitely BYOF. Bring your own food. Last party they tried to get me to eat those emoticons. I tasted them and they were not too good. LOL

My son has to work nine hours at KMart on Thanksgiving day so I made a huge pan of lasagna for him to share at work. I'll go to my mom's house while he is working; my sister is cooking traditional turkey and side dishes there.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! There is so much to be thankful for! Rejoice!

Hey, I watched this American Experience episode last night on The Pilgrims
and wow, I learned a lot of new things that weren't taught in school. It just
goes to show you you CAN teach and Old Dog new tricks!

2 hours, but worth the time IMO:

"Explore the converging forces, circumstances, personalities and events that propelled a group of English men and women west across the Atlantic in 1620. The challenges they faced in making new lives for themselves still resonate almost 400 years later: the tensions of faith and freedom in American society, the separation of Church and State, and cultural encounters resulting from immigration."

My favorite thing to eat at Thanksgiving was, and forever will be, the sweet jalapenos my maternal grandmother always sat upon the table.
Honestly, I eat these year-round, but it was at Thanksgiving as a young girl where I first tasted them.

I don't much care for the other things eaten at Thanksgiving.
Thanks for this!
