I'm quite nervous. I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year and my mom is coming over. I plan on making this Thanksgiving in a slow cooker with a few changes since I hate brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes. I also have to find a flour alternative and some gluten free bread for the stuffing. I know it's just me, my husband, and my mom, but I still feel a bit nervous. I'm new to cooking and not all of my stuff comes out right. I told my mom to make a pie, so she's going to make a crustless pie, since I'm gluten free. I really do hate being gluten free, but it has really helped my mood and intestines.

I'm going to do a challenge up until then, and clean for 15 mins every day before Thanksgiving, since the house is a mess. I really need to clean off the table, so we have somewhere to eat. I also need to clean the kitchen, so it looks presentable.

Anyone have any tips about hosting your first thanksgiving?

Thanks!

Hey Mo, this is a great idea using the slow cooker, as it take a lot of the stress out of cooking. Give your husband things to do in the kitchen, just because you are cooking does not mean that he cant help out. Relax. You have made dinner lots of times before. Preperation is the key to a good dinner. Peel and chop any veggies early on so you have more time to relax and enjoy the meal.

This sounds great Mo and I am sure you will be just fine. Check the frozen food section in the grosery store health food section. My sister has a very bad gluten allery and she is always telling me about her finds

this sounds great. You may be anxious now but after the meal you will wonder what the worry was for.

I'm actually happy to hear you have the courage to make the recipe and holiday your own. I have always thought of cooking as a creative art and it looks like you are taking the plunge to create away. Good for you! Happy Holiday!

Not sure if this will be helpful or not,
but since you opened with being quite
nervous about it, I offer this tip:

Lolol Pfrog! Pfunny

I am cooking this year too. The whole deal: Turkey breast roasted in oven, sweet potatos Virginia style, stuffing/dressing, mashed potatos, gravy, french green beans, hot rolls, this weird gelatin thing I make that fiance craves, and all the etceteras. And pie. Of course. four kinds. Well maybe only 2, bc last year we had so many leftovers, jeesch!

I Thanksgiving. Good thing, huh.
