This truly signifies the huge change I made in my life. And my love for my husband, since the tattoo is of our initials interlinked.

It was a great experience, albeit a rather painful one!!

My "sister-in-law" who is a young and upcoming tattoo artist did it for me. She was stellar.

Although I have scars () on my wrist, they didn't get in the way of the tattoo.

I'm really happy. And hubby, who was with me every step of the way said "you're one tough chick" That made me feel good too.

that is so cool about your ink. What a thrill!

I am addicted. If I had the money I would keep going back.

My therapist enquired about why I tattoo and why so freaking huge. She couldn't understand why someone with such extreme anxiety about being watched and overly concerned by what people might think would go ahead and draw such attention to themselves.

I wonder why myself.

I think part of it is tattooing just for that very reason. That it is about control. If people are going to stare at us, we can control that attention.

My ink is across my back and chest and consequently can only be seen during summer. I tend to have a great deal less social anxiety that part of year and wonder if it is linked to showing off my tattoos.

What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks for this!

Hubby also got one done. Now he's got two. His first tat was done before we met.

My brother-in-law chose this as a way of life for himself. He is literally covered in tattoos. Full sleeves on both arms and legs and half his neck, into his head is covered too. He is the sweetest, kindest person I have ever met. His young girlfriend is also pretty much covered. It was she, who has only just recently started tattooing professionally, that did mine and hubby's tattoos. I had full confidence that she would do a sterling job. (She is only 21). They are both meticulous and professional piercests too. But, ummm - I don't want any holes!

The tat is healing nicely. Not even itchy. It looks a little dry and scabby but I have a balm to put on which I do several times a day, and I'm sure before long, it will be totally settled in.

Now for my Mom to see this! She just might not be able to wrap her head around it. She doesn't have anything against tattoos but on her daughter is another story.

It's an interesting thought. It came to light that my young sister in law, who did my tattoo, and who is literally covered in sleeves and tattoos all over, suffers from a fair amount of anxiety. She also has several piercings and her ear lobes are stretched - hugely stretched She has a lot of people staring at her in malls etc. She said she is "desensitized" to it now. But she hates being the center of attention. But I do know that she is proud of what she has done and is incredibly proud of her chosen profession. She even has scarification on her face! But somehow, it all suits her. I hope she can control her anxiety as this is her way of life. She would never confide in me. But she saw my scars from a suicide attempt on my wrist and didn't say a word! Totally non-judgmental. I applaud folk with anxiety having tattoos. It's a big step.
