I've been in physical therapy for 3 weeks, and it's immensely helping my back, but i've gotten sick twice with a cold. I think it's because it's at the hospital and there are so many germs. It really does suck. I don't go anywhere else to be around germs.

You could be right. Nothing quite like going to the hospital to get sick.

I used to work retail handling money. I was constantly sick.

Hospitals are generally loaded and crawling with germs, yes. I would start pumping on the Vitamin C, chugging orange juice or however else you want to do it.

Go to physical therapy outside of a hospital.

Maybe wear rubber gloves when you are using equipment that umpteen other people handle. Throw them away on your way out the door. Also, wash hands ASAP.
