During the weekdays, I rely on having to use an Alarm Clock to wake up! However, on the weekends I wake up on my own. Does your Wake Up routine require the Bells, Whistles OR the Human intervention (like the one seen in this pic, lol!).

How many of you set an Alarm Clock to wake up?

If someone is home I just have them wake me up but if no one is home I set an alarm. Have to put the alarm all the way across the room so I have to walk to it. If I could roll over and turn it off I'd never get out of bed

If I'm off work and have nowhere to be then I never set an alarm or have someone wake me up. I mean what's it matter how long I sleep if there's nothing to do?

I use an alarm clock almost every day (as I get my daughters every weekend & don't want to sleep the day away!). Wednesday is the one exception, and those days I tend to wake up even earlier than I normally would.

Boy howdy do I set an alarm! I set, count 'em, THREE alarms. I am NOT a morning person. It literally takes the three alarms to cut through the fog and wake me up.

Have to get up really early to get the kids up for school (this, in itself, takes forever), make their breakfasts and lunches - yes they're teenagers who won't do it for themselves! But after my chores are done, I crawl back into bed and when everybody leaves for school and hubby leaves for work, I generally fall back asleep for an hour or so. I don't set an alarm then, and have to force myself to get up at a reasonable hour and start work (from home) and house chores!

I voted for "sometimes I use an alarm clock"...

I tend to wake up fairly early in the morning & just doze until I get up. Therefore it's not that important for me to use an alarm. I would have one set just as a back up if I was working or had some other commitments though.

However, I am using one at the moment anyway just because the mornings are dark & I might be more prone to oversleeping a little. In the summer generally I'll be kept awake by the sunlight in the mornings, so wouldn't have that problem.

I like to get up at the same time every morning regardless of any commitments or not though, so my alarm is always set for 06:50.

I need two.

One is an old, sturdy alarm clock that I have set to wake me up with the local radio station sounds (boy, that guy is annoying by the way...). It is placed far from the bed, for it's own safety. Yeah... I have a... history of throwing things at my alarm clocks, since I was a teenager. I'm not proud of it... it's that I wake up scared or cranky sometimes. Hard habit to break, I tell ya...

The other one is my phone, that is set to play my favorite songs to cheer me up. This one is set for two minutes after the alarm clock, just so I don't risk, you know, throwing my shoes at it or something...

Thanks for this!

I wish to add two choices:

use an alarm clock 7dys per week
use cell phone as alarm clock

I use both - I don't seem to trust one or the other. I use them all week long. even though I don't work or haave morning commitments, I try to life a routine lifestyle as though I were normal.
Thanks for this!

weekdays i have 5 alarms set. one physical alarm to 3:15am for when i'm trying to do human things like eat breakfast and do things i enjoy. i keep that one as far away from my bed as possible so i have to actually get out of bed to turn it off. then my phone alarms go off at 4:10, 4:30, and 4:45. my emergency alarm goes at 5:30 when i have an hour to get ready for work.

I don't use an alarm clock. Mostly I wake up automatically somewhere between 4 am and 6 am, so that gives me time to go to work. Also if I don't wake up, my cat meows until I wake up and give him breakfast.

I use an alarm clock everyday so I can wake up to get my dog outside and feed him (before he finds a way to feed himself)

I set an alarm, but it's more of a "just in case" thing. I tend to wake just before the alarm goes off. It took many, many groggy mornings, but I've finally trained myself to wake at the desiganted time without the alarm.

Thank you for the thread, 2inchtallman

I use an alarm clock, but mainly because I'm incredibly paranoid about oversleeping. It's incredibly rare for me to actually oversleep - I'm an early riser by nature, and if I have a set schedule my body naturally falls into it - but if I don't set an alarm my body/brain panics and instead wakes me up every hour to two hours convinced that I'm late. So I set an alarm, wake up usually a good fifteen minutes to half hour prior to said alarm, and usually only wake up a couple times during the night rather than half a dozen times.
Thanks for this!

I haven't needed an alarm clock for about 25 years. Being able to stay asleep for more than a couple of hours at a time before being woken by the pain would be a relief.

Dave.
