The estimated jackpot for tonight's Powerball drawing has soared to $450 million dollars thanks to strong sales. Powerball is a lottery that is played in the United States. 44 states, Washington D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico participate.

1 ticket is $2 dollars, and I bought 2 tickets. I realize I have more of a chance of being killed by a meteor today, but imagine winning? I would donate 25% to various charities.

If you're the only winner tonight, what would you do with all of that money?
Thanks for this!

Immediately I think of bills, rent, all that yummy stuff~

A car, mine bit the dust last month, so they repossessed it
A house for me, the kids, later the grandkids
Some for my mom
Some for dad
Some for savings; some for investing
Charities...
A few good friends that have been there for me

Buy myself a tiny cottage on the coast of Northern California. Send anonymous cash care packages to a few saints I know to be still walking the earth. Schedule some orthopedic surgery I've been putting off, with the only surgeon I trust but who is currently out of my price range. Get rid of my mish-mash wardrobe of clothes of just-in-case different sizes and get a small array of simple pieces that fit and work together from somewhere like Banana Republic. Set my nieces up with college funds. Become a full time humanitarian.

Heck, I'll spend $2 on that dream.

I guess I should buy myself a ticket too!

I've written about what I'd do with the money before...but the first thing I would do is to send my parents straight into retirement!

The drawing is at 10:59 PM ET

By the way, the jackpot is now $500M. (Of course that doesn't change the odds.)

Flannels? I'd normally say no, but it's half a billion dollars!

First thing I'd do is get a lawyer. Make Arrangements to get the money autonomously, fix up my car donate it to a women's charity. Get a new car dental work, move to my home state buy a house that my mother could live in also...hire a nurse when it comes to that so she could stay home. Set up a college fund for my grandson. Pay off my daughter's mortgage. Put aside enough for a good health insurance plan, a burial plan... Then set up trusts for various charities.

We do play that much but when it get like this you kinda have to

I would pay off my house and my moms house then I would find an island and buy the island and put a compound on it so everyone had their own space. And I would get a cleaning lady and someone to do my shopping for me.

I would also donate some to the charity's close to my heart.

The kinda funny thing is my mom lives in the house she grow up in. When my grandmother passed my mom bought it from her brothers and sister. Anyway the next door neighbor has lived in that house forever just like my grandmother and my mom. When the lady died she left it to her son with the condition certain people be allowed to live in the house

Well he played the lottery faithfully and he won. It was not a big jackpot but it was like 10 million or so and he took the payments.

That house was always the one that had weeds in the yard run down needed to be painted etc. he won on a Saturday he called into work sick on Monday and went down to the lottery office. He never told his family they found out when they saw it in the newspaper.

That house is still the house that is still run down with weeds in the yard and car parts. He quit his job once he won. The only thing he did was to expand the master bedroom and he added a pool to the master bedroom and because it was an indoor pool the whole house had to be rewired.

Sorry I got so long winded it just goes to show that when people are given a chance like that they don't always make the best decisions

NOBODY won (nobody has won for over two months).

Saturday's drawing is currently estimated at $675M dollars.

P.S. Don't spend more than you can afford to lose.
Thanks for this!

Well in that case. All I'm getting is a good book from the half price bookstore.

Largest jackpot in its history now for Powerball.

$1.3 Billion or $806 million for the cash option.

It is unfathomable and hard to believe no one has won.

I cannot not imagine what the odds of winning will be now.

However, I can imagine winning; what dreams are made of.

The odds used to be 175M:1 People were winning quite frequently (the jackpot was usually won before it reached $250M). Thus Powerball officials hired a group of statisticians to make the odds even greater to create larger jackpots. The odds are now 292.2M:1

Powerball officials may have to call the statisticians again.

The hubby and I bought 5 tickets Saturday, and we'll probably do the same.....is it Wednesday? I was so clueless I had to fill the slip out 3 times.

If we were to win, we'd definitely both quit our jobs. Of course a good chunk would go to charity, and we'd definitely do some traveling, at least for a year. Then I think I would probably become a professional student. We'd also support my two daughters so they could focus on college.
