I used to tell people in chat, during the winter when people were envious of the weather in AZ, that you'd all get your revenge once summer hit. Well, summer has HIT here in sunny Tucson lol. Talk about 108 degree weather already and its not even July yet. Soooooo, I'm getting my comeuppins after all my bragging at the beautiful weather over the winter lol!!!

My parents live in Sun City West. So I know AZ winter and summer.

We all laugh about the "dry heat". As far as my sister and I are concerned.....anything over 100 is HOT....dry heat be d....

I really like the idea of rocks/pea gravel instead of grass. Less yard work. Got really tickled the last time I was there...some one had actually put imitation grass in their front yard.

Hahaha keb....never having had a lawn, I don't know the difference. However, I do get annoyed with the people here who DO have lawns....I think its pretty rediculous with how little water we have in the desert anyway. Not to mention the golf courses and college campuses and business with rolling green lawns that have watering systems on a timer....and even when its pouring rain (as little as that happens), the sprinklers will still be running.....grrrrrr. My apartment complex has no grass, just desert landscaping that doesn't need to be watered. I like that about them.

Muffy....70 to 90 degrees.....aaaahhhhhhh that would be so loverly haha.

Its been pretty miserably hot the last few days, but I try to stay in gratitude, knowing that no severe weather phenomena will suddenly pop up like earthquakes or tornadoes etc. We are pretty blessed here in the desert.

Rayna,

I find it mind boggling that you have never had a yard? Does that mean you've never cut grass or run through fields of flowers and grass?

Hugs,

Jan

I think the first time I went to Az it was like 110! man it was hot but bearable. growing up in Ga with all the humidity and temps in the low 100's was miserable! I was in Indio Ca that same time and it was 117! yikes! so glad it was dry heat lol. I could still breathe! already here though it hit 97 yesterday! oh man! going to be hot this yr.

sometimes when the grass is a foot high having a cactus garden is very appealing. I have a question for you, people there who have pools, do they have to keep putting more water in everyday? was always curious about that, i rarely have to add water because of the rain we get.

i guess a solar cover would be out of the question, unless you needed a really big spaghetti pot.

This is one of the few homes where I have not had a pool. I never added water, as the rains surely kept it full enough. The problem with that though is you have to constantly add chemicals because the sun and rain changed the PH and all of the water To all those who were envious of the AZ winter

MMMM would love my own pool right now... but hey! The community has one for me to use (just the puppy can't use it.)

TC!

Jan, I had a yard growing up, but we had gravel on it. But we had 2 big mulberry trees that were great shade and fun to climb on. But no, I never ran in fields of grass and flowers. The parks would have grass....but it was a risk running barefoot on it because it wasn't thick and soft, and you'd still step on rocks. And it made my skin itch.

Heyjoe, in AZ, we definitely add water to the pools. The sun makes it evaporate pretty quickly. I've never personally had one, but I've seen them do it at the apartments. My friends actually do have a solar cover hahaha.
