My idol Skrillex is coming to SF and I really want to go, but my only friend who is actually into this kind of music can't go due to schoolwork and finals which is a huge bummer. He told me to go by myself I really want to go. But I get lost in the city easily and driving home at night in SF is sketch, although I am thinking if I do go by myself I will park in a free spot and take a cab there which is expensive but worth it?

The problem of finding someone to go with is I only have about 5 friends and they are country/pop people not EDM/Dubstep...so it will be a lot of money for them to go to something they don't really enjoy.

I've never been to a concert by myself. I love Skrillex but...is going by myself worth it?

Have you ever been to a concert by yourself before? What do you think?

I went to a Celine Dion concert (not quite the same as Skrillex, I know) by myself. Hubby had no inclination to go whatsoever. But I grew up singing her music and she has had a huge influence on my singing "career". So I buried my anxiety deep. And went. It was exhilarating. I managed to find my way out of the concert when it was over and walk the distance to where hubby was waiting to pick me up. I didn't think I could do it. It is something I'll never forget.

Saw Rod Stewart In Concert by myself way back in the day & don't regret it one bit!

The cab over and back is a good idea, or perhaps a family member or friend can drop you off and pick you up after?

Enjoy!

I used to go out to clubs by myself. When people would talk to me, I would tell them I was supposed to meet my friend, but she hasn't shown up. I always met people and had a great time.

Go alone and be open minded, but stay safe.

You should be fine going to that concert itself by yourself. I'm most concerned about the fact that it sounds like you aren't very confident getting there and home.

I went to see Faith No More by myself. No one was interested, and I am a diehard fan. I felt I could enjoy myself, cut loose and just dance my head off, look a fool and not care about embarrassing myself. The crowd was cool, I was able to get really close to the front with no one at me fussing they didn't want to. It was great. I recommend you do it. Plus people always flake out and I find that really annoying. I plan to do the same for Eagles of Death Metal. I have asked a few people but no one will go. SO concerts alone is my future and that is fine by me!

Sometimes it's good to do things outside your comfort zone as long as you are sensible. I'm sure you'll enjoy it and have a great sense of achievement having done it. Make a point of talking to people there and join a group. Someone said that you tend to more regret things that you don't do than those you do. Go and have a great time.
Thanks for this!

I decided not to go. One, because I don't have any money for it. Two, I've seen Skrillex before and it was one of the worst concerts I've been to because of their opening acts (one of them was a rap group that nearly started a mosh-pit. We were in the very front and was squished, one of my friends had a panic attack and got locked out of the concert, and by the time Skrillex came on we left the front row and sat around till it was over, and because of the rap group he only played for twenty minutes). Three, Skrillex is collaborating with Jack U and I am not impressed with their new group. I don't think it's worth it.

I would much rather invest in a deadmau5 concert than Skrillex because I've never been to one of Mau5' concerts, but I've watched his shows from my laptop when he goes live at Ultra and other venues and he is definitely a must-see. From what many fans of the horde say, he goes nuts when he's unhooked and he does come to SF on a fairly regular basis. I missed him last fall but I would love to go see him and I think it would be a wise choice to invest in him when he comes to SF

Also, Skrillex and deadmau5 are usually the headliners of the Hard Day of the Dead festival in LA on Halloween. I'm scared of festivals but they usually do an amazing job. I also know Skrillex will be playing at Coachella this year but I heard it's outrageously expensive.
