There are noise ordinances in every city. Call the police. I used to do it in LA all the time because I had very noisy neighbors. And record every time that it happens. They have to learn they live in an apartment, not a house. Period.

treatment provider is the same as saying doctor, medical doctor, family doctor, therapist, counselor, psychiatrist, psychologist... the medical and mental health professionals that help people with their medical problems and mental problems.

Have you politely asked them if they would mind turning the volume down?

In some circumstances the local council can help: https://www.gov.uk/report-noise-pollution-to-council You generally need to log disturbance to show evidence and you will need to try discussion/mediation before they will act. You might also seek support from neighbours before approaching the council.

Rightly/wrongly they cannot help where the person is 'especially sensitive to noise'.

It's not like they play low volume music and I can hear it kind of sensitive to noise. Many neighbors complained about it as well. But for me I can get angry when hearing loud noise. Yes, I told her once in person and politely to please lower the voice volume a little while keep enjoying her day, but at a lower voice. She did then, but later she began to do the same again. I cannot go there every single time she plays loud music. She needs to understand it's a general message. By the way, since the day I opened the thread, I haven't heard the loud music but once, which is good. I hope she is finally beginning to respect others' demand for quiet time.

Hoping this situation fixes itself with time. Have wondered how you were in the time since I was last here.

Thanks. Right now, literally, right now (and it's around 10:30 pm here), she is watching TV (probably a movie) and I can hear everything. She is in the floor below me. What I can do, that's I don't know

There's not much worse than noisy neighbors. I'm amazed you can hear them from above. There should be drywall, plywood, a thin layer of concrete, and then your flooring material between floors. They must be really loud. Hope you get some peace and quiet soon.
Thanks for this!

Thanks. I live in a small building (3 floors), and the walls aren't sound proof. But yes, it's very loud. The floors are thin, I think. I live in the last floor, so I don't know exactly, but my guess every step can be heard and felt from the above floors. Before her was an old lady, and she came up to me once saying that I make noise by walking on the floor (actually, she cannot hear very well, and the person visiting her then was the one who was annoyed, so, both came to me)!! Ironically, I became a "friend" with the other woman, because she thought I was too nice to listen to their complaint with a smile. From that day, I take my shoes off when I enter the apartment. Returning to our story, the voice is still playing, and it's about midnight!! I hope they will stop soon to have some sleep.

I live in an old concrete building so noise isn't much of a problem except through the doors across the hall.

My problem though is the building is on the edge of a residential district and zoned right next door to retail spaace. Next door from my bedroom window is a restaurant patio which gets very noisy. It lasted until 2am in the morning when the place finally shut business down. A group of us approached the bylaw police. As they adjoin a residence the police (maybe they got a fine possibly) visited them and now they turn the music off at 10pm. The voices still get very loud though.

Wandering Soul, I really feel for you. Noisy neighbors are a very disturbing thing to live with. I'm shocked that your landlady didn't even bother to tell the girl to turn her music down! I wish I had some magic advice for you. I've been in the situation, and it's extremely frustrating...more than frustrating, noisy neighbors can have a seriously negative effect on your life.
Thanks for this!

I'm surprised that nothing can be done about it!! I don't get it why the police allow this in a residential area?

I'm having this problem again but they are also burning plaster. It's making my lungs feel sick, and bad nausea. But anytime I've called the police, its always their word against mine, and the police are very against me and I don't know why.

Hi Angelique, I'm so sorry. Like I posted in this thread, noisy neighbors are pure hell. My downstairs neighbors play a loud video game between 7 a.m. and 2a.m. I hung a not on their door asking them, politely, to turn it down. They turned it down for one afternoon, then right back up again. Next I will try another note (not as polite), then I will speak with the manager.

It is very frustrating when the police are not helpful.
Thanks for this!

I'm so sorry, i forgot you have this too. But it's the noxious fumes that are making me so sick.

Somone was here on this floor a while ago and opened the window in the hallway. I wonder if the criminals said the odor was coming from in here.

I allow myself flights of fancy, in which the police finally discover that I'm right and stand up for me. But that's just a fantasy. Calling the police over noisy neighbors

Eta: sorry, I'm so distracted. I hope you will have much better luck with the police than I do here. I have no one to side with me because I have no local friends or relatives. If you have more than one witness, the cops might take your side.

Im sorry this is happening! Its the worst!

Ive lived in 2 apartments and 2 homes in my adult life.

In my second apartment i was the noisy neighbor and didnt even know it. My step son would rock in his bed to fall asleep when he was really young, and apparently his bed was hitting the wall shared with the neighbor.
They left a nice note on our door. They didnt realise it was a baby and thought it was adult bedroom activities .
My husband went over and had a polite convo with them. Then we moved his bed to the other side of the room.
I could only imagine how annoying we were to them because as a baby he would soothe himself back to sleep throughout the whole night by rocking.

Im glad they came to us first and not the landlord. That wouldve been embarrassing.

But ive always had luck with personal conversations rather than getting anyone else involved. Sorry you arent having the same experience

I have had terrible, violent neighbors that, after trying the personal conversation route and being threatened, I had to call the police. Fortunately they will come out when there is violence involved. But it's a real nightmare to live with. I feel very badly for you.
