Hello there,

I am William from Greece. I am web developer & designer and my hobby is physical fitness. I was wondering how much related you are with fitness?

I want to ask you this: Can you do pull ups? And if yes how many repeats?

I used to be very fit as a younger man but after three spinal surgeries with
plates and screws in my spine, I don't think I could do any.
I am 53 years old now but I do try hard to watch my weight, eat healthy
and walk, swim and do a little hiking once in a while.

Body doesnt forget .. You were fit once, so believe me there is "muscle memory" .. I will not say to you that it will be easy, but you are not so old as you think .. you can try some pull ups ..

You do not have to go to gym to do them, you can buy one cheap pull up bar and you can place it in your door .. I am 32 and I am exersice very often cause it really feels good ..

You can watch my pull ups on YOUTUBE ..

Or you can read my article for some basic pull ups

Pull ups for beginners at home

Walking and swimming are really good for you, there is no doubt for that. But I am very sure that you can try other things too, like pull ups. Step by step, try to do 2 pull ups in the beginning and as the time goes by you can go for more ..

Except if some DOCTOR suggested that you should avoid exersices like pull ups or push ups. Then you should not try to do any and keep swimming and walking like you do.

I'm into fitness myself, though pullups are one of the harder exercises that I've struggled with for a while. I can get in 7 or 8 last I tried. Won't be able to practice anymore, sadly, as my home doesn't support those doorway things. Chinups I did a lot though. Never counted, but certainly more than 7!

I can do approximately .001 pullups. However, while my arms may be puny, my legs more than make up for it. When I was a young lass of 14, and at a mere 89 or so pounds, I was able to leg press about 200lbs maxing out. My legs aren't nearly that strong anymore, now that I am in my 30's and haven't been so careful of what I eat, so I can probably just squeak by with 170lbs maxing out or so.

Yes, the women in my family are known for their beefy calves and thighs and I am no exception, apparently.

None....but I can lift a heavy western saddle & get up onto a horses back. More of a challenge because I'm short. 5ft 1inch.

I played racquetball every day at lunch when I was working.....lol. My right arm had a very large muscle compared to my left arm.

Was never into push ups or pull ups...just other ways of staying in shape

I haven't done any since elementary school. I could only do about 2 then, on a good day. Physical fitness is not my strong suit though I am trying to get more into it as I try to lose weight. But pull ups are not my exercise of choice, if I am going to do something with my arms I'd rather lift weights.
