Friends,

Did anyone else hear about Oscar the cat?

He lives in a nursing home in Providence, RI. He senses when someone is going to die, and stays by that person until they pass. Oscar the Cat

I did see that. At first I was like how very cool, then I thought what if you were in the nursing home, fully aware of everything and the cat climbed up on your bed and didn't leave. Oscar the Cat

I think because of the way he does it, it's nice and calming... that's the way I would want to leave the world. Oscar the Cat

isn't it in that hospice hospital? I saw one the other night and the cat never stayed with any one person much but this one man came in and missed his cat and this one came in and stayed with him. if it wasn't in the room with him sometimes they would ask him if he needed something for the pain and he would ask them to get the cat instead of meds. pretty cool.

It is strange how Oscar seems kinda aloof until someone "needs" him.

Oscar lives in a nursing home or hospice, I'm not sure. You can do a search on msn.com and the article should appear. He doesn't like to be around people until someone starts to pass and then he lays beside them to help them go to the other side.

Yes, I heard the story about Oscar. One of my kitties saved my life once and also the life of one of my fish who jumped from the tank. I fully believe they know a lot more than we give them credit for.

It's amazi;ng! Yes, I think cats are much more "psychic" and in tune than we realize. I also credit my "old kitty" with saving my life one time!

I loved this story. I seem to "know" when folks are going to die too. It might be because as a nurse we learn the "signs" but I would talk to the patients I had when I worked in a nursing home and tell them how much I enjoyed knowing them and if I never saw them again I appreciated their freindship and would miss them and never forget them. I would go away for the weekend and come back Monday to find that they had passed on just as I suspected they would.
I have also read stories about dogs who could sniff out cancer.

Hi Petunia,

I heard a follow-up to the original story, where the doctor was interviewed, and he said it was an end-stage Alzheimers unit, so the people wouldn't make that connection.

May I die with a cat at my side -

EJ
