Yup, sad to see that over here the interest in what's going on there with you guys dissipated faster than the hurricane itself...

I can imagine dealing with the aftermath can take some time. Matthew did drop off about an entire lake worth of water on the coast (among other things), which will have to recede. Also all the damaged real estate and infrastructure...
I don't know what'd be worse; the storm or the rebuild...

Also, animals and wildlife are indeed also caught up in such storms. Might not want to think about that, quite depressing and all...

We went without power for 7 days after hurricane Opal. I think that was the early 2000's. No picnic, that's for sure. Hopefully it will be back soon.

I'm on day 3 of no power and no end in site. The earliest I might get back power is Tuesday. My only real concern is going to work tomorrow and trying to figure out what to do with my dog. I can't leave the windows open because I'm on the first floor and it's going to be in the 80s again. Hopefully I can get him into doggy daycare when the place opens today.

Did you get power back?
I did, but some neighbors are being told they will be out until sunday!
During the back end, the windy part, there were transformers blowing up everywhere and starting fires here.

I still do not have power. They have put out a public statement that everyone will have power back by midnight tonight...I'm not holding my breath though.

Ugh thats rough! At least you are safe!
We had deaths here...

And the ugly came out in people real quick! Hubby went to get coffee when we all had no power, and he said people were fighting and yelling over coffee! He said it was so awful.

That's the fight-or-flight reaction kicking in. People are in such panic they start fighting... Things like that can get pretty grim indeed...

Sorry to hear all this. Makes me feel sad I can't do anything constructive or helpful...
I hope you're staying safe, and I hope your husband is all right...
