As I write this, I'm listening to the PBS program on the '60's, and it brings back so many memories and also the confusion of being a young person during that era.
I'm grateful for this program which, unlike previous ones on the era which concentrated on the frivolous nature, addresses the issues which we faced at that time.
I hope others here get to see it.

I looked for it here last night but it wasn't on our local PBS stations. I would like to see it too.

Here we had Celtic Woman which is wonderful. And after that Victor Borge. Fund raising week here.

Thanks for letting us know it's out there. Hopefully we can catch it when it's shown where we are.

Echoes...It was excellent, and I think it's a series, of which I caught just the one episode. I have to admit, it was a bit of an overload for me, recalling the turmoil of that time...antiwar demonstrations, race riots, political upheaval.
Still, it was excellent, and sure to be on again.

I will look for it in my Sunday TV paper.

It was a turbulent time. It was also a wonderful time of awareness and enlightenment. I wish we still had many of the same movements going today: anti-war for one. I support the troops fully. I want them home! I don't think conflict is the answer. How do we raise kids to be peaceful, have conflict resolution programs in schools, try to protect them with community services... then ask them to to to war. It is very confusing to me.

Also I would like to see more environmental awareness and support for local farmers and a concious dedication to peaceful living.

ok, off the soap box. lol. Thanks again for your post!

I saw something about that the other day. I don't know if I saw the same show. It seems things were complicated and all in an uproar back then. The kids now seem to be disconnected from the social issues of the day.
I saw something, or heard something about the shootings at Kent State and how 4 students where shot by the national guard. I told my daughter (18) that really one "student" was not a student at all but a 14 year old girl visiting the campus that day.
Things were invigorating and depressing at the same time back then. Not at all frivolous. Live changing. AND clothes were a heck of alot cheaper! To be fdressed in style at my school all you needed was you father's old flannel shirt! a pair of ratty old bells or jeans slit up the side and a bandana sewed in to make bells. Oh and be sure to have sandles or moccasins! and don't dare wear anything with a name on it! That means you wear buying into the capitalists thing! Horror! Look at us now...do any of you from that generation covet name brand purses and such?
