As most of you know, I just had ankle surgery this past Monday. Because of complications (with the cast, not the surgery), I'm getting my cast early. My favorite color is purple, but I don't know if I want that for up to 6 weeks (probably 6 weeks)...I'm not opposed to out of the box ideas either like stripes.

,,,and GO!

I'd go for purple, it's my favorite color, too.

I'd go for purple. Plus it's a darker hue, which after 6 weeks you may come to appreciate.

That's actually exactly why I'm leaning against it...if I'm gonna have something for that long, I'd rather have it cheery, and while many shades of purple are cherry, cast purple is not.

Last time I had a cast for 6 weeks I went with light pink, very out of character for me, but I loved it. I know I'm not gonna want that this time...maybe a striped cast with light pink lol

It's your choice of course. In my home we've seen blue and green. The blue after 6 weeks wasn't as filthy looking as the green one was. Filthy being my maternal and personal viewpoint. The green was able to get clearer signatures and expressions and artwork.
Many more options these days than classic white.
Thanks for this!

No one, and I mean no one, is drawing, writing, stickering or anything my cast! It's gonna stay pure.

Interesting about blue and green. Last time mine was light pink and it didn't look bad at all after 6 weeks. Of course, I was vigilant making sure to cover it at night and do all the right things lol. Couldn't have an ugly pink cast!!

I'm so glad there are more options than white! That's so boring!! I'm a color person, big time...heck, even half my leggings have colors like magenta and teal or green and orange (in the same pair)!!
Thanks for this!

I was watching my sons the best that I could. The one with blue was one wrapping to late for Orange. I work in a school system and have seen a myriad.

Hopefully they have in stock, what you want. Happy cast days, to you

Happy? LOL.

I'll have a number of choices that I'd be cool with, so I'm sure I won't end up unhappy.

And of course, I'll let everyone know what I chose! Not gonna say what I chose til I get it though!
Thanks for this!

Awesome idea, not for me. No one is going to come near my cast with sharpies or paint or anything of the ilk unless they wanna get slapped. And everyone knows it too.

Maroon & pink stripe or pink & gray stripe. I like turquoise also. Lol im sure those colors arent on the selection list

Only casts i ever had was after ACL knee reconstructio before it was done arthroscopically. Full leg cast with all the left over plaster from my leg being small for 2 weeks then ankle/theigh cast 4 more weeks with no weight bearing allowed. Got really good with my crutches. There wasnt anything i couldnt do except drive my STICK SHIFT sports car. Im sure this will be a challenge for you. Hope you can fid a way to make the best of it

Lol. Good choices, but yeah, probably not on the list of actual choices lol!

This is only my 2nd cast, and the funny thing is, it's for the same reason -- ligament reconstruction. Done differently though which is interesting. Hopefully this way is better than the last time, and hopefully I don't screw it up again! Definitely wearing a brace for running from now on! (Well, once I can run again...I won't even be walking for another month or so, and even then I'll be in a boot...)

Oh yes, I have one of those custome knee braces. My ortho had his own PT group who really worked with me. Had told him before surgery I wouldn't let him do it unless he could guarantee I would be able to get out & down hill ski at my winter vacation condo in Jackson Hole. He took the challenge & so did I....from barely walking 3 months after to skiing with a brace on beginning slopes the first week to mild intermediate the 2nd week 6 months after surgery. He did a good job. I used the brace for all my racquetball playing from then on also. I still have the brace but don't use it for things like horseback riding. Found its still important at my older age to keep the muscles exercised around my knee. Or I have problems with it.

Same with my back, after the compression fracture If I don't do the back exercises & I do a lot of heavy lifting I start walking bent over like an old lady. Ugh, it's hard when we enjoy sports & injuries complicate our lives.

Take good care....be wise, but don't give up doing....you will get there again

That's awesome!

Honestly, my first goal is plain and simple and nothing big: Walk a 5k. I say that because 5k was my favorite run...so of course I'll eventually want to get there and more, but we'll start out small.

When I had my foot and Achilles tendon surgery in 2011, they put a plain white cast on. 2 weeks later they cut it off to take all the stiches out, something like 50 of them. I almost had them put a pink one on, just to see the looks on peoples faces. (I`m male) But, I went with blue and had it for 6 more weeks.
Thanks for this!

After a little while I noticed that it's like the Cheshire Cat! Definitely didn't do that on purpose, but it's wicked cool anyway. I love Alice in Wonderland!

My choices were very limited: Red. orange, yellow, orange, blue, green, purple, pink, black -- I think that's it. Maybe a few more, but not much.
