The weirdest was that I lived in the same area as someone I met online, after he moved, LOL. I think I must have bumped into him several times, but I couldn't know he would be an Internet friend later on.

A family member and an Internet friend live in the same town. So I've met that Internet friend maybe 5 times.

Another Internet friend moved across the world to end up in the city near mine without me knowing it first. Weird. Met her 3-4 times.

Met someone online who needed a place, that person now lives as one of my friends' roommate. She has been here to visit once. I showed here this place and she signed up. But it is kind of cheating, would have been cooler if we had met here first.

Several years ago I visited an internet acquaintance and his family for a few days while my wife and I were visiting her parents in an adjacent state. The visit was quite enjoyable, but then we lost contact with each other not long after that.

Yes and some of them are cool and I talk to them over skype from time to time but I also have one that I have a restraining order against because he is a stalker who like me more than I liked him...

Aside from meeting many PC members at the 20th Anniversary meetup, in Boston, I've only braved meeting 1 person that I met, interacted and befriended online. That was a few years ago. Mind you I've been "online" since 1993, back when it was intranet relay chat rooms. So, meeting this one person was a big deal, for me.
We were long distance until recently.

I met an internet friend through the deadmau5 chat. I was heading over to the Gumball Rally in SF to see deadmau5 and I was going alone but J said he would be there and we arranged to meet up. He is now a very good friend of mine and I'll be seeing him again at the deadmau5 concert in Oakland.

Did online dating one time, back in 2009. The guy I met was really cool, good looking, and funny. We went on three dates, after the fourth date, we went back to his place to watch a movie. Upon entering his home, I noticed Nazi memorabilia and posters of Hitler, the Third Reich, etc. I was astonished. His place looked like something out of the movie "American History X". Turns out he was some kind of Aryan Brotherhood affiliate. I said, "dang that something you totally failed to mention during the entire TWO MONTHS we talked daily, before even meeting. He wasn?t aggressive or anything, he just explained that he was a neo nazi, like I would explain how I am a Hairstylist. Needless to say, that was the end of our dates and communications. I have never met anyone else from the internet again. lol, but I might again one day.

Well kinda. To answer the heart of the question the answer would be no. I did meet an offline friend for coffee and they had an online friend of theirs who I had passed the cursory time of day with. But it certainly wasn't planned or a 'meet-up'. So no, I have never cultivated an online relationship and taken it into real life.

I met a guy that is on a fishing site that I am on.
I was driving to Florida and was passing right through his area
on the way. We spoke so much online over the years that he asked me to
stop and say hello. So my GF and I stopped to meet him and he turned out
to be a great guy and we had a lot in common. We still talk on the fishing
site all the time. That is the one and only.

I met so many guys over the years through the internet. most ended up being one-night stands (not proud of it but it is what it is). I made a lot of mistakes over the years, but the best experience I ever had was meeting my best friend and companion on E-harmony in 2010. We have been inseparable ever since.

My best friend on here I got to meet before I moved. Got to meet her family & had a wonderful New Years Eve that year. I am so thankful for that visit. She got to know me & a couple of my eskie dogs that always go with me everywhere.

The funniest realization here on PC was that there was a guy I ran into his posts & started putting the pieces together like his location & the fact that clarinets are Bflat instruments along with name...just at the same time he was putting the pieces together about me. We had both been music majors at the same junior college back in 1970-1973, played in the same band. I even golfed with him & his dad at his dad's country club (embarrased myself with that but we always had a good laugh about it). He & his GF (now his wife of many years) were at my wedding. They had a daughter almost the same age as mine. We had actually lost touch with each other for many of those years. Its been awesome to reconnect with him & his family & was glad to be there even 2100 miles away, for support at the loss of his daughter to MRSA. Never would I have thought that I would reconnect with a good college friend after all those years, here on PC where we are basically very annonomous.

I am thankful for the role PC has been in the connection of 2 very special people in my life now.

I haven't personally met him, but I found him on a pen-pal website. His name is Leandro and he is from Italy. We send mail to each other all the time. I plan on saving some money to go on a site seeing trip to Italy and meet him. We've Skyped and all of that. He's my age which is pretty cool.

Oh! Actually I did meet a few from different web sites. None of them lived close enough to keep in touch with, unfortunately. But I did meet at least 4 or 5 astrologer friends in '00 (I think). And then I met someone else who actually was a sociopath. I hope never to see him again.

Who remembers AOL chat rooms from back in the 90s? I met people from chatrooms a few times. I don't how and/or why. I was still a teenager, but I was used to be extremely shy and that was the only way I could talk to people.
I've tried a few dating sites within the past year and met two of those guys which didn't work out.

I went on few dates with a guy (met online) who turned out to have special room in his house devoted to confederate army paraphernalia. I thought he was just history buff but turned out he was a pretty military racist and so was his entire family including his baptist minister father. There was a bone fire by the lake and him and his father were making jokes about lynching. Oh he also denied that slavery existed, I am not kidding. They all seem like very peaceful nice folks until you really get to know them. Of course I didn't continue seeing him

I corresponded with some guy who said he was in the military and sometimes would be visiting my state. Thought he just enjoyed writing to someone but I don't know if he really was in service or not.
