I hate the fire alarms in my house. They are all hard wired. Plus they have a battery back up. The problem is that they are crazy sensitive.

So they have been good for 2 years.. got them new...and had an electrician install them.... but now I had to change the battery. It wasn't beeping yet but.. I apparently am suppose to change them very 6 months. The battery compartment is in the WORST place. To change the battery I have to take the unit down and unhook it from the wires. To do that it is recommended that I shut off the breaker. Like I know where that is?

** side note ** what sort of crazy bull is this? It is almost like they want people not to change the battery because it is just too hard. Shouldn't all batteries be on the outside of the unit and easy to change?

I have been putting this off for days but this morning I just went to my basement and found the proper breaker, and, turned off the circuit, and replaced the batteries. MAN this was hard. There were all kinds of problems. It was hard getting them off... hard getting the wires off, hard getting the battery thing open then they have an idiot proof lever that must be down to close the battery compartment but I couldn't figure that out for a bit, hard getting the wires back on and hard getting each unit back on...

** side note ** why is everything made so difficult.

But the moment of truth... putting the breaker back on... if there is going to be a malfunction... it will happen now... I did and nothing... I know they are getting the juice because each one has their green lights on. I tested each one and all worked. Phew... and so far, all is well.

And bonus... I know where the breaker is and how to get the alarms down in the future if there is a malfunction.

Bonus two.. did something I didn't think I could do.

Way to go on doing something hard that was challenging for you. I bet the next time you have something hard to do, it will feel at least a little bit easier.
