Have you ever watched a movie like Girl Interrupted or Beautiful Mind.....or Proof (as i was watching tonight with my bf) that make you feel...more crazy....more incapable to deal with things? Its like i start thinking i might be a real person...and then bam....i start feeling all eccentric or something....i dont get it...im lost....sigh....maybe im just plain off my rocker to start with and i make no sense to anyone....

Girl, Interrupted is one of my favourite movies, because I can really relate to it. I've just ordered the book that the movie is based on.
A movie that does make me feel a bit out there is a movie called 'thirteen', which deals with teen self harm, drugs and sexuality. Its a very powerful movie, and reduces me to tears every time, I think because it reminds me so much of where I was at at age 16.

I saw Girl Interrupted, that was an interesting movie. I really want to see Beautiful Mind, I heard that was good also.

Inny, these movies have a different effect for me. I actually feel more like a real person after watching them. Less alone. Especially if I can identify. Somehow it just helps to know that these issues and problems and these illnesses are universal and that they hurt people all over the world.

Prozac Nation was another good movie.

I liked Proof. Then again I'm a big Paltrow fan. But I liked the end when she talked about connecting the dots. I somehow really tuned into that.

The theatre company I help out is doing Proof next year. I've seen a preview for the movie. It looks interesting.

I have seen all those movies as well and loved them all....... Secret Window is another good mental illness movie as well - a little on the dark side though.

After reading this post, I had to watch Girl, Interrupted again.
I love this quote from the movie.....

" I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the outside to try and kill the thing on the inside" (Susanna)
