it is pancake day in the UK, and I for 1 am happy about it.

I love pancakes, and today is the only day in the entire year I get to have them.

I like pancakes with sugar and lemmon on.

only mid afternoon, and i've all ready had 2.

delicious!
Thanks for this!

'Shrove Tuesday", is 'Fat Tuesday' signifying the last day before Lent I believe. My understanding is it has to do with a final hurrah before having to do without. Perhaps someone else can enlighten us.

I read that as "Panic Day". So glad you meant pancakes! Mmmmm! My papa makes the best pancakes, and we've even had pancakes and eggs for dinner when I go to Mamma and Papa's house!

Why is this the only day of the year you can have them ss?

I'm with you on how you like to eat them. My mom always made them with powdered sugar and lemon on, too.

(for those of you not familiar, UK pancakes are more like crepes)

When I was a kid Mum would always make pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. She would toss them in the air when they were cooking. I loved them with lemon and sugar.

I planned to make them this year and even made sure that I had enough flour. No excuse really when the lemons are ripe on the tree in my back yard. Sadly I couldn't get my butt into gear and it didn't happen.

I am not averse to making them on any other day.

What a weird coincidence! I decided on my own accord to make pancakes this morning. Granted I just used a premade mix that you just need to add water too to make, but all the same, it was good. Chocolate chip with lots of maple syrup on top. We Americans love pancakes so much we have a whole restaurant chain that caters to that particular food. It's called International House of Pancakes, or IHOP for short. They also make stuffed French toast. YUMMY!!

I guess it's not.

I guess in theory I can have them any day of the year.

it's just.... well, I don't know how to explain it.

like for example you don't think about chocolate eggs anytime but easter, or turkey at christmas, you know.. I don't think about pancakes unless it's actually pancake day.

see what i'm trying to explain

I could have them anytime of the year, but you just don't think about it
Thanks for this!
