I'm interested in all the things you are doing. I do have an accounting background. How did you get into these things? Where did you make point of contact? Thank you.
Thanks for this!

With regard to my current volunteer positions...a little over a year ago I was extremely depressed. My life was miserable. So I started going to a NAMI support group. I went for a year & the facilitator of the group asked me if I'd like to train to be the facilitator of a different NAMI group. I said, 'Sure!' and did it. From there, I was invited to become a member of my local mental health board.

I started getting SSDI in 2016. I thought of volunteering....I use to when I worker as a mental health social worker. I use to help with a mental health support group. I thought long and hard...decided not to roll the dice. If SSA thinks your too well they'll cut you off. Wish I could volunteer but all the places in my area have you do paperwork

I had such experience two years ago when I was on a trip in Germany I was a volunteer-translator for the group of disabled people. It was a very interesting experience, however in some ways it was a bit hard for me

I volunteer to keep my mouth shut when visiting my in-laws. I also volunteer to give blood when i can. there are no organizations where i live that i see as worth the time and effort. The few i would gladly give don't want me because i'm the wrong shade of skin, even though they know who my family is.

My favourite volunteering was with a wildlife park. I got to help with new enclosures, meal times, daily counts.... it was physically demanding at times but loved being around the animals.

I am selling raffle tickets for a Harley-Davidson this weekend (charity for veterans). I have had to turn down the museum's request for help this month as I have a conflict. And I had to turn down an offer to be a tester of kayaks and equipment for a local retailer and outfitter. Sigh, this one was hard to say 'no' to.
Thanks for this!

I used to volunteer doing various jobs and really enjoyed it. Once I can get my physical health a bit more stable I plan on doing so again.

I've got my volunteer shifts in place for the raffle. I have decided to donate a piece of art to the charity dinner silent auction. I am going to contact the museum and see if I can help according to my own schedule.
Thanks for this!
