my daughter was trying to sing a nursery rhyme, but couldnt remember the words

Wee Willie Winkie
Runs through the town,
Upstairs and downstairs
In his nightgown.

Rapping at the windows,
Crying through the lock,
"Are the children all in bed?
For now it's eight o'clock."

is there anybody else who has a faviourte they like to post

I remember when my son was born, I couldn't remember so many of words/lyrics.

One Mother's Day morning when my oldest son was just five (35 yrs ago) he woke me up singing this song.

Good morning merry sunshine
How did you wake so soon?
You .... the stars
And shined away the moon.

He'll say it to me know, but he won't sing it anymore. Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff That was the sweetest "wake up" I've had in my whole life! Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff

The dots represent a word I can't remember. If you know it, would you please remind me? Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff

EDIT: I found it!!!

Good morning, merry sunshine,
How did you wake so soon?
You've scared the little stars away,
And shone away the moon.
I watched you go to sleep last night,
Before I stopped my play,
How did you get way over there,
And, pray, where did you stay?

I never go to sleep, dear,
I just go 'round to see
My little children of the East,
Who rise to watch for me.
I waken all the birds and bees,
And flowers on my way,
Then last of all, the little child
Who stayed out late to play.

LOL AWWW not even:

John, John, my son John
Went to school with nothing on

when he wouldn't get up in the morning? Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff I threatened to make him get on the school bus naked. Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff

Rock-a-bye baby on the tree top
When the wind blows the cradle will rock
When the bow breaks, the cradle will fall
And down (at this point, I'd suddenly lower whatever child I was playing with, to the ground)
will come baby, cradle and all

Ride a little horsey down to town
Ride a little horsey don't fall DOWN

I'd put a child on both my knees, especially the boys, and "trott" them. When I cam to "DOWN", I'd spread my legs and let their bottom almost touch the floor. They thought that was hilarious!!! Now the grandsons want me to do it to them... even the 13 yr old! Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff

With him, at the age of one, I taught him the hand motions to:

Itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout
Down came the rain and washed the spider out
Out came and son and dried up all the rain
And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again.

Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff He would try SO HARD to put his forefinger and the thumb of the opposite hand together and make the spider crawl. He would stare at my hands for the longest time! He finally got it when he was two. Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff

Awww... those are my favorite times of my life, when my son was little, learning, curious!

My 'baby' will be 29 in a week!

One of our favorites was "You Are My Sunshine"

You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me Haaaapy
When skies are gray
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

here's one I have modified as I got older:

Thirty Days hath September poem

Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November;
February has twenty eight alone
All the rest have thirty-one
Except in Leap Year, that's the time
When February's Days are twenty-nine

my modified version is:

Thirty days hath September
All the rest? I can't remember!

A friend of ours once repeated the months of the year poem to my kids like this...

Thirty days hath Septober
April, June and Nowonder
All the rest have peanut butter
And grandma rides a trike...
(He pointed to my daughter who is incredibly builible and asked) Do you swim?

Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff You should have heard them all go "HUH???"

My husband will wake sometimes and start singing about frogs on bumps on logs :-) from "Hole in the Bottom of the Sea". It is a bit startling first thing in the morning to hear a grown man reciting nursery rhymes in this low, sing-songy voice:

Goosey Goosey Gander
wither shall you wander
up stairs, down stairs
in my lady's chamber

once I met an old man who would not say his prayers
so I took him by his left leg and threw him down the stairs

I have no idea why I like the idea of throwing that old man down the stairs...but it makes me chuckle each time I say it! LOL

Nice to know there are at least 3 YES fans here! YAY!!!

Here's one I sang to my grandson -

This is the song that never ends
Yes it goes on and on my friends
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was
And they'll continue singing it forever just because......

Repeat ad infinitum.... LOLOLOL

I still sing You Are My Sunshine to my grandkids... especially the younger ones that still fit on my non-existent lap! Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff There was one that didn't like my singing voice, I guess, 'cause he would cover my mouth. Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff

Speaking of sweet memories... if you don't mind, I'm going to post in Spanish and then translate. My mom used to tell me stories about family members... loving stories. Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff

A la ru ru ruru,
A la ru ru ya - just a calming sound
Duremase mi nina - go to sleep my little girl
Y duremase ya... - it's now time to go to sleep

Esta chiquitita - this little one
fue a ver a su tia - went to see her auntie...

And from there she'd make something up or retell something that had happened between one of my aunts or the other... or a cousin, or my dad, or whoever came into her mind. LOL Rather than putting me to sleep, most of the time she'd make me giggle. Nursery Rhymes and Silly Stuff
