Hi everyone!

I am new on this forum. I was wondering, for Canada, if someone have ever noticed a website or a journal applied to aviation psychology? As an airline pilot, I would like to point out this subject, it could be very interesting for us [pilots] ans for psychologists!

Thank you all. Have a nice day .

LL.
Thanks for this!

Welcome to PC. NOT a pilot but have been acquainted with many & my first neighbor at the home i lived it when married & in califirnia near Edwards AFB where all the test pilots flew out of, was a test pilot working on the reconossance upgrades for one of the planes.

Mostly acquainted with military pilots which i would imaging tales a little different psychology than for being an airline pilot.

Fascinating subject

Hi *Laurie*, thank you !

Yes it is a fascinating subject and I would like to find more about it. In the United States, it has been very developped but in Canada unfortunately it is an other story.

It is yes eskielover. Military is certainly different from airline and it offers different challenges as well. We are truly working in team in the airline industry, that's why is such important in my opinion, it is two individuals together for quit a long time sometime. Personnality matters, sleep matters, workload and stress matters, there is a lot of subjects in psychology that I could relate to airline.

I am glad that you've been involved a little bit! Flying is wonderful.

Cheers

Interesting article on FAA requirements for health & mental exams
https://www.faa.gov/news/fact_sheets...m?newsId=20455

My friends son just got out of the military & was hired by a commercial air line. Started just at tje time his wife had their baby. He is based clear across the country from where they live. When home, the baby doesnt allow for muchvof a restful sleep time. Guess the good thing is that when first hired of they dont start off actually flying the plane. Stsrt off as flught engineer then into co-pilot before workibg into pilit position. Hopefully life requirements when home will allow for more restful time.

Lack of sleep & home stressors would make for abdifficult time on the job even when one is good at compartimentalizing life.

Lol I couldnt imagine anyone being in the cockpit with my ex for thevtime of cross country or international flught. after driving 2100 miles across country with him in my truck haulung my horse trailer I was ready to open thevdior & push him out. If it wete a plane I wouldnt have even wanted to give him a parachute. Personality is important when working in a close environment. He slso had issues with managent on his jobs & was always having problems. Even though he was quite capable if doing his job, his personality wasforever messing him up. He could never work as closely as a pilot career would require.

I woyldbthink the screening process would have to be fairly strict for a career as an airline pilot since so many lives are dependent on their abilities.
