I think that there was a topic like this before, but I couldn't find it again so I decided to make a new one! =D

As for me:

Kaika (開花) in the Japanese equivalent to my name (my name means "blooming" and kaika literaly means "open flower" but has the same meaning)

Despite it's complexities and really hard-to-learn written language I like the Japanese language (which is why I'm teaching myself)

I'm not really a "maven" of anything, but I just wanted to pick something that sounded feminine. What is the meaning of your username?

I don't much like my user name anymore, but I felt it was appropriate when I joined here 3 years ago. Now I'm not seeking much and something like "contentment" would suit me better. Too much of a hassle to change the name...too confusing to people who know me.

It's the same name I use online everywhere. It's like I have two images - the pulled together competent career woman that I show and the scared little messed up girl inside hence the split image.

Splitimage...I used to use the same name everywhere online, until I was survailled by an acquaintance. Since then, I have changed my name for different sites. Maybe I'm just paranoid about it, but some sites will show up on a simple internet search, like other forums, unfortunately. I have not found this to be so with PC, thankfully.

Oo, fun topic!

Mine comes from an Elliott Smith song called "Independence Day"... basically the best phrase I could come up with to describe my life.

I like this thread What is the meaning of your username?

I have always wanted peace and tranquility. But I also have a home group for Alcholics Anonymous and the group name is Tranquility, and I now have the chinese symbol of tranquility tatooed on my leg (it's posted with my pics).

nothemama8,

I have always wondered if that's where your screenname came from. I loved that show. I remember the first episode I saw showed the mom and dad dinosaurs waking up in the middle of the night and looking at one another and from off in the distance you could hear "The baby's awake!!!" and it was the baby dinosaur who was saying "The baby's awake!!!" I also remember baby bopping dad while on dad's back and dad was doing dishes, repeatedly saying "Not the mama!" .

Too funny!

I was sitting one night looking out the window watching snow falling to the ground. I related people to the snowflake....no two are alike...we are all unique. Therefore I became snowflake....

freewill... comes from a couple of places..

I have "free" "will" to pick and chose what and who, I want at this point in my life. I have not always had this freedom.

It also comes from my faith, which is that God grants us free agency or rather "freewill"... my faith is just my faith and not meant to spark a debate... What is the meaning of your username?

Winter Rose is a metaphor for my life. I have often felt that I bloomed alone out of season, which is rather sad, but also miraculous. The world around me has at times seemed cold and bleak, yet I've still survived and accomplished much. I also like the idea of bringing a bit of beauty into a sometimes harsh world.

There's a quote somewhere about Roses (metaphor for women) that bloom late being more precious and deeper, more fully formed. And then there's, "Memory is the power to gather Roses in Winter."

There's just something about the idea of a Rose blooming in Winter that is beautiful, magical and sad all at the same time. (Can you tell that I love metaphors? I explain my life through them.)

I loved reading through this thread - hope to read some more posts here. What is the meaning of your username?

Just after I married, we bought a rural WV farm, and I planted a rose garden. I've never done that since, but I was so impressed by the beauty of those roses...plants I had ordered...so fragile and beautiful. I like your name, Wnterrose!
