Oh boy...bear with me.

I just finished sorting out my potential monthly bills...one...hour...later.

Here is what I came up with...

$700 Rent (utilities are included)

$150 gas

$125 groceries

$80 for an internet+phone bundle with ATT

$40 for flea meds

$30 cat food and litter

$60 AAA (Between $700-800 yearly AND I have money ready to pay in full for 2018)

$20 Vet health exam and yearly shots ($225 yearly)

$10 for H&R tax stuff ($100 a year)

Grand Total

drumroll please

$1220 *faints*

Before taxes, I will only have $340 for myself for the month if I was to work 40 hours/wk on minimum wage

Before taxes, $700 for 40 hours/wk at $12

Before taxes, $1000 for 40 hours/wk at $15

I really don't think this is feasible. I will have very little to save, let alone for myself, and what happens if I get a flat tire or the cats get sick or some big emergency?

Yes, I have over $3000 tucked away, and if I am very careful I can buy the bare basics.

I feel anything but confident to talk to my parents. I still haven't had this discussion. I mean, I can't ask them to support me financially, and I doubt insurance will provide me with living expenses. What do I do? Do I give up? Go live with Mommy and Daddy for the rest of my life? :_(

I'm not giving up. I average $1000 a month into my savings with enough money for bills and mad money. And with my experience I am hopeful I will have a much higher starting rate than the minimum wage in Oregon.

Pt 2 coming up...going through my list of bare necessities and doing a tally. My goal is that with my grand total of the bare necessities I can tell my parents, it costs XYZ a month, ABC for bare necessities, and what I will have leftover for emergencies.

Wish me luck...if you smell something smoking it's just me using my brain!

I'm in England, so I'm afraid the figures don't mean much to me.

I'd suggest letting the figures settle for a bit and see how you feel about it all then.

I just figured, if I can find everything on the bare necessity list for under $1500, I can still have $2000 for emergencies. I'm done thinking for the day. *brain sizzling and frying*

My daughter thinks our cat believes that if she can’t see us, we can’t see her. She’s always “hiding” behind the beach towel with her tail <flipping with excitement because “prey” is about to happen by> and hindquarters hanging out.
