Just out of curiosity, what are some of the dumbest things or reasons you’ve gotten in trouble for? Just wondered.

As a youth I was once intrigued by my mother's many aloe vera plants. I yanked out a single gushy leaf so as to investigate it's texture. My mother found it in the garbage and went off the rails. From that point onwards (13 until the day I moved out at 17) I was not permitted to be alone in my home. Either I was forced to go out with my parents or agreed to be locked out of the house. Stupid - and abusive.

as a kid, I bit a tin that had lead-based paint on it which got me into trouble with my paranoid mother.

at school, we had this thing where we had to give each other anonymous feedback on speeches/presentations (aged about 10 or 11). I had just heard the word "pathetic" used in anne of green gables, where it meant nice or sweet more than useless. I wrote "pathetic" down on all the slips of paper for feedback and after a while the teacher lectured the whole class about someone writing down "pathetic" about every presentation...

I was sent to detention over being beaten up and left bleeding by another student. I didn't even deal a defensive blow in retaliation. I just tried to get to the school bus in one piece so I could go home.

I once was life banned from a chat because I was "spamming". I had left the keyboard and the cat typed ASDFGH (or similar) and it enter. It wasn't like it was a long message to make the chat scroll or anything.

I was quite new there so it wasn't like they tried to punish me for any past bad behavior either.

Now afterwards I have to laugh.

I don't know if this counts as "getting in trouble" but it's a pretty terrible way to treat a child...
When I was 15 and living with my cousins, I cut my foot on a metal candle holder while home alone. I tried to apply pressure to it but the bleeding just wouldn't stop. I started to panic so I called my cousin (it was her , her husband and young son I was living with) and left a message. When they got home her husband started berating me for freaking out over a "little scratch" on my toe, and I replied with "It's not my toe it's my foot" and SOMEHOW he saw that as being disrespectful or "smart" and just yelled at me to go to my room.

It kept bleeding intermittently and then the next day my cousin saw it and said I definitely needed to go to the hospital because it needed stitches, but I flat out refused-I basically said that because they didn't give a **** last night anything that happened was on them . Thankfully it healed up without causing any major problems, but I have a pretty nasty scar from it.

I think some people overreact when they worry that kids are being "smart" or rude to them. Remember that children are human too-yes respect is important but sometimes other things are more important.

I'll never forget on my 4th or 5th birthday when I told my mom I didn't want my friends to see my barney balloons hanging on the ceiling because I was a big kid now. She ripped them off the ceiling and snarled at me with the most vindictive aggressive tone "Happy Birthday" and stomped off and threw them in the trash. I'm pretty sure those balloons were from my 1st birthday, but every year on my birthday I remember that, and the other time on my birthday when the neighborhood bully forced me to choose her over one of my closest friend to allow her to sit next to me. I knew she'd bully me really bad if I didn't, but the other girl was absolutely crushed and ran up to my room and cried for the longest time. I got in trouble and apologized but I felt truly sorry.

Probably the time I was in the third grade and some idiot that I thought was my friend told a kid who hated me that I'd insulted him and he used that as an excuse to put me in a headlock and start wrenching my neck back and forth. All I tried to do was attempt to escape but, some elderly, angry old teacher jumped all over us both and shouted that we were *both* fighting. My protests were ignored. Probably one of those old "Children are to be seen and not heard" types anyway.

I was always in trouble for no valid reason. If something, anything happened it would be my fault no matter what. Example: if you hadn’t taken so long to find your coat, we wouldn’t have been in that spot at that moment.

I was “bad” every day. Honestly, I was an extremely good kid. Hyper vigilant and adult-like.

I can't say that I'm superstitious, but my mother was extremely superstitious. I have a lot of superstitious-sounding thoughts for this reason that I just know are ridiculous.

And near-constant anxiety to battle.

My brother was once actually grounded because, when we were having collard greens for supper, he jokingly asked someone to "please pass the purples."

Then when my other brother thought it was a silly thing to get grounded for, he got grounded too.

My father had control issues.

I laugh when people say childhood is carefree...maybe it's supposed to be but it's not. More is expected from children than anyone, sadly

someone on another website sent nasty messages to the administrator and she thought that I was the one who sent them (barring the fact I was moderator of that site at the time,) I really don't know what she had to go on

anyway their went my 6 month friendship with a woman who lived in florida all because she thought the forum messages were coming from my account

(she could have just checked the IP or something!)

Explaining the difference between a cow and a bull to a school friend. They got all coy and told the teacher I was being rude. The school teacher asked me to repeat what I had said in front of the whole class, so I did. The kids all laughed at her for getting embarrassed and I got rapped across the knuckles with a wooden ruler. All for a bit of basic anatomy.
