How have you made a difference in yourself, your community, your environment, and your world. What have we (PC members) done to make a difference big or small? Who do we support that makes a difference? Which small acts of kindnesses have we made recently? Have we ever witnessed a positive impact that we or others have made?
Here's a link to a video...he's a kid who dresses up like the President and he talks about Martin Luther King Jr and what he did to make a difference. |

I tend to believe that good deeds are better left unspoken by those who do them. As far as anything I've done to better myself, I really can't think of much right now accept maybe that I've made changes to my diet by eating more vegetables and drinking pure vegetable juices and such. Other than that there isn't much to say.

As far as the world, I was part of a discovery of how a specific enteric pathogen causes diarrhea...understanding how the pathogen works will allow development of novel therapeutics. The environment, hey I recycle, hopefully we all do, believe it or not recycling had to be pushed when I was a teen. My community, prior to having to conserve money because of losing my job I regularly gave to the food bank. And honestly I feel I have a community here on PC as well and I do my best to support people who need it. For myself CBT has had the greatest impact----I'm not the stress ball I used to be.

For me, I think that everything I have done in my life has impacted someone in one way or the other. I have genuinely helped many people along the way, and I even when I thought I didn't matter to anyone, when I went back to Facebook (which I know can be toxic), I was welcomed and remembered with open arms. I know I have made a difference to people because of the praise I received, but my mania has alienated a lot of them. Even if I didn't impact them in a positive way, they sure as hell remember my craziness!
Anyway, as far as myself, I have definitely evolved over the years, and seen a big difference in myself. PC has always been my rock, and every time I come back here, it feels like I never left. The members here have always impacted me in such a positive way.

I volunteered for 2 years on a distress line, until my mental health forced me to take a break.
Now I volunteer with a couple of agencies who prepare tax returns for low income individuals, many of whom are homeless, mentally ill, addicted, or living in abject poverty, so that they can get access to all the gov't programs that they are entitled to. Even though my income is really low, I donate to a charity that helps homeless kids. splitimage |

I hope that when I'm much grayer and older I will be able to look back and see if I have.
Good thought provoking thread. |

I don't know. I hope that the more positive interactions I have had with ppl along the way have made a difference. I hope that somehow I have helped someone to feel better, whether it be on here or elsewhere. I hope that with my happiness blog, I am making a difference somehow in people's lives. I worked with abused and violent male teens in a locked facility years ago. I hope that somehow I may have made a positive difference for at least some of them, if not, just maybe one. It's hard to know when you don't ever see someone again. It's easier to know with your own friends. PC has made a big difference in my own life, generally and overall.

I think we make a difference to each other here! Thanks to those who have to me.
I guess like in It's a Wonderful Life we'd never know unless we weren't there what our footprint was. I have done a lot of volunteering which I'd rather not write about and hope that in some way I have made positive differences to many there. |

I helped out two old friends that needed help that I hadn’t seen in years.
I’m putting my daughter through college. If I had gone along with doctors’s recommendations, three of my family members would not have survived. Sometimes you’ve got to fight. My company organizes volunteer work where nearly all of us employees participates, including me. I’m feeding two stray cats. |

I make a difference every day because of what I do for a living. That’s the main reason why I love my job so much (the other is that it’s never ever boring! Lol I sometimes hope for boring l day ha). I also used to volunteer in homeless shelters (probably will again) and I donate money or items to various causes: long list of causes.

I don't have the right frame of mind right now to talk much about myself. But people have told me time and time again that I have helped them in so many ways.
That means everything to me. |

I do a great deal of volunteering. I admit I feel good when it is publicly acknowledged.

I have helped 13 dogs in the past year find forever homes...Beyond that, I don't know HOW I have made a difference, but I know that every day I strive to be compassionate and show kindness towards other people. I strive to advocate for equality for all and to not be afraid to speak up regardless of who might hear me stand up for equality.
We do not always see the effects of our good deeds in our own lifetime, but I believe that my life has meant something to others, and if I had not existed others would have been affected by that. Just as the small acts of kindness by other people towards me have had major change on my life.
