weird names for children, that is

yesterday, I was watching something for kids- and the presenter said, happy birthday to these twin sisters, boo boo and ra ra

my first thought.. you named someone after the noise that a lion makes?

I have also known people called orlando, washington, spider, and cruise- oh and " bo bo", apparently named after what their first child called a dog

so.. share your unusual names here

I've heard Moomoo, Sugarman, Teflon, Doedoe, Messiah, Switchblade, Bo Bo, and lots of other names that I can't remember right now. It's early in the morning here.
Thanks for this!

I read that Kanye West & that Kardasian chick named their daughter Chicago West because Kanye was born in Chicago...Their other daughter is named North West. Messed up, huh? There's also a football player whose first name is Equanimious. The most messed up & unfortunate name I've ever heard was a little girl named Demensha.
Thanks for this!

Poor kids, imagine when they try sending in their applications for jobs. Their names might get them rejected.

There used to be a weather gal on one of our local TV news programs whose name was Chicage. As I recall, it was supposedly Hawaiian for something. There's an English actress who plays in some of the BBC mysteries I like to watch whose first name is Honeysuckle. I guess those are tame though compared with some others listed here.

I saw someone on the news named Velveeta.

I’ve been binge watching Rupaul. A lot of the contestants have intersting names that just roll off your tongue.

My favorite was Stacy Lane Matthews.

I went to high school with 3 sisters who were named for the food their mom ate the night each girl was conceived. Their names were Lasagna, Cocoa, and Pickles. Lasagna changed her name to Taloria.

Yeah, the Kardasians are pretty much not the only ones in Hollywood naming their children outrageous names.

I know for a long time, people were getting on Gwenyth Paltrow for naming her child "Apple" for god knows what reason.

Also, the whole thing about names is being way too hyped up. Kylie Jenner, (one of the Kardashians I think, but not sure), is naming her kid "Stormi" which is ridiculous also, but it was all over Twitter like hotcakes.

Some people shouldn't be allowed to name human beings! Poor kids junior high must be awful for them.

I like unusual names. "Apple" and "Stormy" were not uncommon names for kids during the hippie days, at least here in California. In fact, my very first therapist (it was a "rap group"...i.e., support group) when I was 17 in 1978 was named Stormy Weather. She was terrific.

Apple was, a long time ago, what some people called heroin.

My daughter's name is fairly unusual and it fits her perfectly.

Another one I can think of...Zowie Bowie, David Bowie's daughter.
Thanks for this!

Wow, I just looked up one of my classmates from junior high, and she’s on fb with her maiden name. It’s her! Her daughter looks like her, and both of her kids have the most beautiful hair.

I’ll not post her name now in case I friend her, LOL
Thanks for this!

On last election day I was part of the count staff; an eighty-something woman came to vote whose first name was Indesiderata - undesired, unwanted. I felt for her, and to this day it's still the saddest name I've come across.
And a friend of mine knows a man whose last name is Sciò, which is pronounced roughly the same as show. His parents decided to name him after a famous TV host - so this guy has the name of his TV show.
Thanks for this!

stormy weather actually reminds me of the episode of family feud I watched yesterday

they had the bennit family on as one of the families, and the dad's name was gordon

(if you don't get it, gordon bennit is a saying. I was totally amused!)

I also used to know someone called ben dover, believe me, that was a laugh
Thanks for this!
