LadyShadow—I used to have sleep paralysis too.

The scary creatures in my case were ghosts that appeared as shadows of hands everywhere, coming down the hall and walking up the walls and on my back. I couldn’t move or scream (I tried!) as I levitated above my bed. I felt an intense, evil presence. It was so real.

There was no internet when I was a teen to research such things. I just kept it to myself and wondered if I had lost my mind.
