They make mistakes and they learn from them. The thing is I'm a perfectionist thinker and I try not to make mistakes. I end up being really hard on myself. I wish people in my life were more understanding and supportive. But I guess it doesn't matter so whatever just leave me alone then.

I hope you can not be so hard on yourself. We all make mistakes and we continue to learn.

What really bothers me is when I post something online and it is misunderstood by the reader, who perhaps did not take the time to carefully read and understand what I've written.

We are our own enemy when it comes to criticising ourselves. I aim to be helpful when I say your assumptions about what others are thinking might be too quick a judgement. Be kind to yourself.

Perfectionism gets in the way of a lot of things. I have this problem as well. I realize that I'm human and will make mistakes. I learned to have compassion for myself, and to learn from it.
I also send my inner perfectionist out to count change at the US Mint. |

I take a different perspective on my perfectionism. I look at it as striving to do the BEST I possibly can. If I strive for perfect but come up short I sm still much better off than if I strived to only be mediocre.
I always worked hard in school to get straight A's but when I got B's too I was still happy because striving for those A's kept me from getting C's. I applied this to everything in my life. I was also good at accepting my talent limitations. I was a music major for my AA degree. When I transferred to get my 4 year degree, flute competition was great. I practiced 8 hours a day but could NEVER master my flute playing like others though I was better than some. I had to realize that I would NEVER be good enough to be a professional flute player & no profectionism attitude could make me have talent thst just didn't exist in me. It was a REALITY that was important for me to realize then find another major I could do well in. I was still able to enjoy performing but just at a lower level than what a professional required & I was happy with that while I ended up changing to accounting & computer science. Studied hard....didn't get a 4.0 but a 3.25 was much better than the 2.25 my H ended up with because he always strived TO JUST GET BY.
