Well, I don't know what's wrong with me now...I guess too much caffeine too late in the day...and then some things happening later in the evening that amped me up, and now I can't sleep. I'm tired, but the brain won't turn off...So, since I can, I'm going to push through on getting this project done for work and that way I'll get some time off tomorrow. Or, in the morning, since it technically is already tomorrow.

So who's keeping me company tonight? Who's up? What are you up to?

Seesaw

P.S. The thing that got me amped was I started chatting to a guy online and we're making plans to meet up. Too many thoughts in my head about the whole situation, and now I can't sleep. Ug.

Well, I'm up too and I KNOW it was caffeine. I had way too much mountain dew earlier. Now I feel totally wired. Well, at least the jittery part of being wired is done...now for the inevitable crash that is to come...which hopefully won't be for a while yet.

I'm watching this absolutely ludicrous show on the Destination America channel called Mountain Monsters. So far as I can tell, the main cast are a group of Appalachain good ol' boys who teamed together to find and trap cryptozoological "monsters" in the mountains like that of Big Foot. Well, the few episodes I saw so far have them being taunted by a mysterious group of 4 men who leave behind "clues' that they've beaten the cast (who call themselves "AIMS or Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings) to successfully "trapping" a monster. They further add salt to the AIMS crew's wounds by leaving behind pictures, documents and other various things on their lives.

Or so the show goes. It's clearly some sort of fictional take on reality shows. If you can take reality shows as serious reality to begin with, which none of them truly are. I did a quick bit of research and found the AIMS crew in the middle of a feud with the "Finding Bigfoot" crew about whether or not their respective shows were scripted works of fiction. Clearly a publicity stunt to gain attention and more viewership.

It's sort of amusing in a way though, these men going around with their rifles pointed ahead of them, trying to hunt a bigfoot. Reminds me of Elmer Fudd in a way.

That was a very detailed response! Lol...

I'm working on a research protocol paper for a medical journal...Basically trying to get it from 22 pages of data dumped in by scientists into more like 10-12....if that.

Super fun stuff...

Wow.....nothing more exciting that condensing a large amount of research/data into a more palatable and easily readable format! Okay, that was clearly sarcasm...

On a less sarcastic note, I'm trying to scrape enough money together to fly out to see my big brother and his wife sometime.

On a sarcastic note again, I'm sooo looking forward to sis-in-law trying to "help" me by giving me a ton of advise on my diet. Oh, my joy on this subject is endless.

She means well, and is very sweet, but her advice, as well meaning as it is, can be a lot to digest, and I often find myself balking and rebelling because I want to be the one to decide what happens in my life.

I think the words I'm looking for are "strong personality" and "overbearing". I respond much better to "low key" and "causal".

She has often been described as a whirlwind when she comes to visit. She offers to cook, promptly uses every pot and pan in the house to make meals from the most scratchiest scratch possible. No shortcuts for her. After she's done, she's physically drained from the ordeal and you're left with cleanup duty.

Last time she came for the holidays, before Mom and Dad split, she offered to cook us each whatever dish we wanted for Christmas Dinner. She never cooked our asked for dishes, but went on to cook whatever it was she had in mind. I don't remember what it was though.

She is also very dramatic. Sometimes too much so. Simply mention the word "snake" in her presence and she'll scream bloody murder. It's ridiculous and completely unnecessary. So she is ophidiophobic (she's afraid of snakes), I understand that. It's a perfectly valid fear. Does she need to act like the sky is falling whenever the word "snake" is said? I don't think so.

I recall finding a rat snake on a beach vacation of mine and taking a picture of it, and posting it on my FB. Of course, she had something to say about it. I don't remember what, exactly, but it was something to do with being glad it being just a picture and not the actual thing she was seeing, I think.

Anyways, I'm rambling...clearly the caffeine has left me in a state of semi alertness and prone to talking about anything for a while. My apologies. I'll pass out soon enough, rest assured.

Oh I love people who assume you want their help and need their advice. And they believe you MUST follow their every word, and if you don't, you're an ungrateful ******.

Your SIL sounds like a piece of work. My SIL is a piece of work too. Always picks fight with my brother at family gatherings. Very judgmental of our family. Gone so far as to say negative things about us, that, of course, got back to us all. She actually won't even let me see my brother or nephews anymore since a few years ago I called her and my brother out for abusing me as a "nanny" to their children and never calling me for any reason other than to babysit. And then treating her "friends" better than she treated me, her own family. I know for a fact my brother feels bad about it, but he's under her thumb. Oh well. That's family, i guess.

Same with my brother, he's clearly so infatuated with her, so wrapped up around her finger, that even if he feels bad about how things turn out between us, he doesn't want to take my side and upset her.

I feel sometimes that it's a good thing they don't have children. They are only cat parents as of now, and the foreseeable future.

What’s with sisters in law???

Mine (brother’s wife) was always strange but she became almost unbearable last few years. Don’t want to hijack but I can write a novel about her. Well they’ve been married almost 30 years and raised 3 kids so I guess it is what it is (although she isn’t very involved in child rearing) She is not easy to handle. She makes my relationship with my brother rather challenging. She has some kind of jealousy issues

Sigh...

My sister in law (husband’s sister) is not difficult and is easy going but she totally lacks class. And not very smart. Her favorite topic at a dinner table at a restaurant is belching and farting. And she is obsessed with her own looks. After I’ve met her first time, she texted my husband (boyfriend at the time) to ask if I thought she is pretty. Wtf? What do I care? Her husband is weird too, he is always on his phone or starts inappropriate conversations (lots of bathroom jokes). Ugh But at least they aren’t difficult like my brothers wife.

My sis in law picks fights with my brother at every gatherings too (nothing of substance but like how to arrange chairs at the table or something). And whenever he says anything she has to correct him “no it’s not what happened”. Ugh.
