I don’t understand the cream-filled chocolates, esp. white or pink cream <shudders>

I pray for something with nuts or a toffee center if a gift box arrives at work.

I used to like plain milk chocolate, but not so much anymore. Well, I like m&ms but I guess that isn’t plain.

What do you like?

I don't like cheap chocolate. Cadburys is now only 20% cocoa. Not good. At one time the EU European Union) wanted to call it vegolate and not chocolate. Chocolate should be at least 30% cocoa in my book. 50% is good. Not too bitter.

I love kit-cats. they are so yummy.

I also like mars bars, twix, fudge, most bars (the only one I won't eat is snickers)

I also like boxes of chocolates like roses and celebrations (though my absolute favorite is quality street)

The chocolate bars Arn't as good as they used to be IMO, smaller, not as tasty or satisfying. Mars, for instance used to have thicker chocolate, more chewy, just better.

I cringe whenever a box of mixed chocolates gets passed around in fear I end up biting into a cherry cream filled 'delight'. Ugh. Ick. Gag. Gross. Worse still, a cadbury cream egg. let's just pass these by and go straight for the 80% dark chocolate.
Thanks for this!

Exactly!!

<shudders again>

I can eat the super dark chocolate, but I’m not really into it, making it a “safe” candy to have around, lol

you just solved my wondering why the little cadbury candy coated eggs had NO flavor This year....bluck.

Ah, my dog Leo has a sweet tooth for chocolate.....YES, the dark chocolate is bad for them. He got into a whole bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips one year. That landed him at the vet getting charcoal. He did it one other time with chocolate chils too but not as much & he got through that without the vet. I biyght an assorted bag last week & saved my dark chocolates for last. Had them in a sealed container in my bedroom. I was running late so firgot to put the container up on my chest of drawers. Came home & the lid was no longer on the container & every foil wrapped piece of candy was GONE. Leo wa s the only one to blame for that....at least thefe weren't many left & he didn't end up sick.....gerr, Leo is a worse chocoholic than I am but it is NOT healthy for him.

Not an expert but if you can try Trader Joe's pound plus dark choc. bar 72%, I believe. for around $5.00. Great price, great taste. Know it's difficult for many to get to TJ's. Take care

I enjoy choosing from the many different truffle gift boxes from Godiva. Or, when I could travel to a store, creating a mixed box of truffles. There can be a great variety of textures in Godiva’s truffles.

I think that you’re describing the ubiquitous Whitman’s Sampler?

As you know eskie I love your posts and yet again you've made me smile. I love the picture of leo trying to get into a sealed container. Two paws gripped tightly around the body of the vessel and the screw lid clamped shut in his mouth, eyes fixed, desperately gyrating trying to unscrew it.

Oh, Isis, so do I!

The mixing and matching that goes into Godiva’s truffles are the best.

DISCLAIMER: Godiva chocolates were the s**t during my 1980’s dating decade and, even though they were kind of froo-froo, girls (you had to be there, I guess) loved them. They were expensive and so we thought them a real treat like Donald Trump would buy them for his lady friends.

REVERIE: One-hundred-years-ago I owned a home across the street from a chocolatier. He had something ‘new to try’ almost every day. He was short and round and hairy. I think that he’s repairing vacuum cleaners now. He’s also an actor. Just a good man who — finally! — found a good woman

That just reminded me. My first career job out of college was in Westwood Calif, close to Beverly Hills. We would go into Beveraly Hills of lunch break when we weren't playing racqurtball at the gym trying to wear off the calories from the Khron Chocolatier dark chocolate covered fresh strawberries. There other chocolate was "to die for"also. Good memories. Think Khron Chocolatier also had a location in New York.

I'll eat almost any kind of chocolate, except for the really cheap very low-cocoa stuff or the really bitter very high-cocoa stuff.

By far and away my favorite would have to be chocolate covered nuts. Not nutty mixtures, but actual individual nuts of various kinds, coated with chocolate. It's expensive though. ... And fattening when I lose control and eat 2 lbs in one go. (Then feel ill)

Strangely enough, I detest chocolate covered raisins -- so no "bridge mix" for me (most of which is pretty cheaply done anyways).

I have a terrible habit of getting desperate for sweets on occasion and raiding the baking drawer when there is nothing else around. I graze on a handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips, just as-is. It's shameful. And expensive. And makes subsequent baking hard. And yes, before you ask -- anything that can be baked, can have chocolate chips added to it.
