I am moving in October and I want a fresh start. I want my room to have a theme. Since we are living on the coastal, a nautical theme is obvious...but I'm one of those people that turns my entire room into a giant collage. And I keep room very, very messy. I want a room that's mature, as I am 25 years old, and I want my room to feel very grown up but also feel homey and like my own but still organized and not messy. How can I pick out a theme for my room?

Put Popeye pics on the walls, with the motto, "I'm strong to the finish 'cause I eats my spinach, I'm Popeye the sailor man!" painted as a border. You could also get a tattoo to match, as tatts are very mature.
Thanks for this!

Baskets, no doubt would give a beach house theme but keeping you room organized. I'd focus on color selection and framed art as opposed to a mural itself, but that's just my personal preference. Maybe a vase filled with seashells?

you could have a little aquarium theme, with each glass window holding something valuable to you.

I like a gypsy wagon theme with bright colors, lots of textures, surround the bed with curtains, plants, and a big fat cat.
Thanks for this!

I do want lots of fish and plants in my room. I do have a cat, so the placement of fish will be important so it'd be out of reach...kitty has killed fish in the past.

A Japanese theme might be appropriate, since you'd be opening a cat sushi bar. Hang a sign on the front of your house advertising the new venture. You might earn a steady income. I think cat sushi bars are an idea whose time has come. Instead of serving saki to the cats, however, catnip cocktails might liven things up.

In the past, I used a bookshelf to place my fish up high with no easy access for the kitty. I had three bettas that were all happy up there and kitty stared but didn't dare. I'm hoping to install some floating shelves to put my fish and knick knacks on.

I do like the idea of a Japanese theme...I know you're trying to be silly but instead of doing something obvious, use the subtle zen aspect and feng shui and maybe do a bit of a geisha dressing room.

I'm thinking of a couple things...

I'd like to paint my walls a lavender color. I thought about using one wall as an ever-changing mural and I was also thinking of having a house-warming party with my friends and we all paint on the wall.

I was also thinking, which would be very hard an expensive, is the cut into my wall to fit an aquarium inside as a center piece to my room. But that's way out of my knowledge on how to do.
