How Did You End Up Where You Live?

I feel I live in a good place because it’s on the bus route. Frankly, we couldn’t afford much else in this school district. It is walking distance to the high school, which I would have loved. My daughter hated hs though and elected to go to community college instead as soon as she could (kids can do that here and still get a hs diploma, it’s not as hard as advanced hs classes).

We moved here for a job.

How about you?

My answer is multifaceted.
I wound up using a service a few years ago that's similar to headhunters for apartments. The K-8 school happens to be a Level 1, which is as good as it gets in the state.
As far as geographic region, my mom had settled here with her 2nd husband back in the 80s, he was working a construction job and his parents had a home next community over where he had grown up. His parents had a summer vacation home up north, explaining how he crossed my mom's path. She wasn't hearing any of it as far as my dreams to relocate during or after college.
So here I am.
Had a decade the other town over to be closer to my then husband's job. Same community that I work for now.
I'm now only 10 minutes from my office at work.
Less commute time keeps me from looking elsewhere for living. Plus cost of living is expensive, but wages are good which offset.

I went to graduate school at the University of Houston...I grew up about 1.5 hours from Houston and went to Texas A&M University, about 2 hours from my hometown, for my undergraduate degree. While in grad school, I did online dating (back when it first started up) and met my husband, who was doing a post-doc at Rice University in Houston. After that, he got a job at NASA and moved into the Clear Lake Area, closer to NASA. I moved in with him once I finished my Master's degree. After we got married, we started looking for a house near the NASA/Houston area. Homes in Houston proper were too expensive for us, and what we could afford needed too much DYI. We finally found a home in La Porte, TX, a suburb of Houston near the ocean, obviously, a town unfortunately with a lot of chemical manufacturing, but closer to NASA than Houston proper with more affordable homes, especially our house (built in the 1960s but recently re-modeled with no need of DYI). We've lived here for almost 14 years now.

I moved to Toronto, over 20 years ago, after university for work. I've lived in a number of different apartments here since then, but always in the same general area. I moved into my current apartment, after being in transitional housing with a woman I met there. We chose the apartment, because it was affordable, as it's a bit far from downtown and you have to take a bus to get to any shopping. But it's surrounded by a park, which I like.

Oh, quite the long story is what I have that is far far too long to share. I will pick it up though after I left my husband 8 years ago when I (obviously manic) quit my job and ran off with my kayaks in tow to the remote interior of Vancouver Island. Life there was fast and exciting - until I crashed and ended up in hospital. My family arrived and forcibly dragged me back to this flat and topography free province I can't stand. I am trying to make the most of it. About 6mos ago I moved again to be with my boyfriend. ****** city but I am happy being with him.

A long, long story. The short of it is that I moved from a city, Sacramento (my hometown), to my husband's hometown, a slightly "large town". I like living here so much more than I did in Sacramento.

Needed to move out on my own. Finally got a job that I could live on and saved up enough for security deposit/whatever other fees, then began looking. This was the cheapest place that wasn't horrible quality or in a horrible neighborhood. I'm pretty happy with it. It's the perfect size for me and my 2 kitties and I've never had trouble affording the rent because it's so cheap and I only pay for electric and trash.

I came to Houston for a job. I lost that job and the one after that, but I always same to find a new job in Houston, so I guess I'll stay. I've been here for almost 8 years.

I ended up in my city because this is where my dad retired (from the military) when I was a kid, and I have stayed local.

Needed to get out of a bad marriage. My mom had died & nothing was really keeping me there any more after selling her home & ending up with jnheritance.

I had a 2 year old horse that I wanted a farm for. I was tired if living in the desert so I elimunated ALL desert like states, I love snow but couldn't see caring for a horse in -40F winter temps of tons of snow so I elimunated all the northern states.

I had been on a business trip to the AFB in Macon Georgia & couldn't handle the humidity. I needed a place whete I could get a nice farm for the miney I had. Horse & Ky go together so I talked to a RE agent & set up a 2 week trip to look at farms.

Looked at quite a few. The one I bought had just gone on the market the morning I left for Ky. It wasvan amazing drive throygh the Ky river palaisades, then came up to this amazjng horse farm. The road then dropped down & crossed a creek. There was a huge 8000 acre cattle farm across the street & this little farm was 10 acres with it's own woods. Fell in love wuth the setting so I made an offer they accepted & the rest is history. I knew no one when I moved here but the little town of 8000+ people is so friendly & so many things to be involved in.....it now feels more like home than any place I have lived my whole life.

I live where I am now because I couldn't pay the rent on my old place and was evicted
