Every year I give Rex a Christmas/Birthday present because his birthday falls rather close to Christmas and I tend to give him something out of this world for Christmas. For a few years it was a Big Dog shirt but then the Mall we usually go to quit having a Big Dog store so no more but any way.

This year's present is going to be a 9 layer Red Velvet Cake. We were sitting one night looking through a Southern Living magazine and I practically had to mop up the slobber off that page when he saw the cake. He said omg you have to make that for Christmas day and that was when the plans were for him to come to my families Christmas dinner. Well he's not coming now because his mom is staying home this year so he's staying home with her. But again I digress so my question is do I go out and get a pretty cake stand to present the cake on or do I get a pretty cake plate to present the cake on?

Here is the poll.

I say cake plate because the cake is already going to have 9 layers? A stand will make it that much taller and maybe limit where it can sit for "storage" after the day it's presented (unless you're having an army over to eat it that particular day?)

I say a plate too because of the size of that thing! geesh hon that is huge! 9 layers you would not be able to put the top on the stand.

I say cake plate. I pushed the wrong button when I voted.
So cross off one vote for the plate stand...

I voted for the stand cuz I thought it should be given a special status.... put up on a pedistal....

never thought about how tall the cake itself was going to be so that's a good point to consider.... unless of course they are really thin layers....

I have to admit... you had me drowling over the discription.... Red Velvet... thats chocolate cake isn't it.... yummmm

Normally I would say splurge and do a cake stand (expensive). But as its 9 layers(wow) you'll need stability so the answer is ----------CAKE PLATE

O.k. Now that we are all drooling can we have that recipe?

Maybe it's not as tall as we think? Here's a picture of a 7 layer one (on a cake plate :-) I think some of the "layers" are like icing, the "white" layers.
