it was painful and it was a horrible experience

I had my head shaved during my last hospitalised; partially shaved during the previous hospitalisation.

Prior to that, I can’t recall the last year that I cut my hair.

I like my bright white hair long, too.

I found a miracle brush — the Wet Brush (?) for detangling my hair.

And let it get caught in the trees
A home for the fleas in my hair”

A few years ago I had long, long dreadlocks. I finally had to shave my head because my hair was so long it was getting unmanageable. Still, I miss it sometimes.

In middle school I had my hair so unkempt I couldn't brush it anymore because of all the "rat nests", so for freshman year I cut it to a pixie cut. I grew it out once senior year after my hospitalization...bad mistake because graduation was around the corner and my hair looked hideous.
Thanks for this!

Oh, my. I don't think you need to cut it much after your ordeal, unless you really want to. Just be careful with that dangerous fan!

My hair is a mess when it’s long. It sticks out really far and even after just brushing it it didn’t look brushed. It also falls out in clumps and gets in my food. Which is gross. Having a wad of hair combined with a mouthful of Cesar salad was one of the breaking points for me. I got a lot of mean comments about my hair when I was in grade school too. A few months ago I finally cut it really short. Like Katy Perry short. When it’s short it’s very straight for some reason. I’ve never been more happy with it. I will never go back to long hair.

I've had short hair for years. I'm growing it out now.

Sorry about your hair / fan experience. It sounds rather comical if it were not painful for you.

Yes — from the 1968 (?) Broadway musical, Hair.

I think Milos Forman directed the film version.

He died recently.

The movie had critics raving but hasn’t had much staying power. Wasn’t a box office hit.

I loved it.
