I went by the Heroes sports card store earlier today because I needed something more to add to my beginner collection of sports trading cards. I had brought with me a manu ginobli autographed card from the spurs and I felt good walking into that store because I had money in that Manu Ginobli card to go towards my purchase. I used it to get a Kobe Bryant trading card with a small piece of his jersey attached to it worth $15. I feel as though I got ripped off because I had spend $52 on that card and to receive such little back for it was a huge blow. I also wanted to buy a box of cards and I told the person my budget was $100 and I decided to go ahead and get the box with two autographs included in it worth $95. I had purchased the Prestige trading cards, cards you can normally pick out at Target for 10-20$.
After leaving the store and going online to look at prices I found out that the box of cards that I had purchased was $20 cheaper at Ebay. I now know that I was paying a service fee for having people pick out cards from a glass shelf and asking questions about it. I also payed more for the Ginobli card that I had traded in than what I got for it in return by far. I found out that night that I payed $52 for that Manu Ginobli card. This left me feeling guilty, like I just wasted my money. This made me feel like I needed to do some more shopping around in order to get the cards that I want. Now I am hungry for more cards and I feel like spending $200 on cards that will give me 3 autographs, and 3 memorabilia cards. I have managed to keep myself from buying that $300 box of cards but I have spent more money on other cards like a Lauri Markenan autographed card.
