But I was rather impressed by my cover of the alternative ending of Alannis Morisette's "You Oughta Know"

Be warned, I'm not the best singer. Heh.

Have you ever been in a relationship? Or at the very least understand the dynamics of a relationship and/or infidelity? Maybe that's why it bugs you...

EDIT: Not trying to attack you in any way.

Okay, explaining...

"dancing in the shower" is a little metaphor to describe that elated feeling you get when you're madly in love with someone...it's not a real phrase, but the whole song is about Alannis Morisette being madly in love in her relationship with this man until she reads the love note from another woman and realizing he's been cheating on her.

"smells like him" is not a phrase either...if you're ever in love, you'll notice that you're partner has a unique, wonderful smell that is particularly amazing to you. You ever hug someone and smell them and they smell good? Well, when you're in love that smell is enhanced and it's a smell you'll relate to with good feelings.
Thanks for this!

thanks for that explanation.

I feel stupid for needing the whole song explained, but hey, if everybody was the same, life would be so dull

Thanks for this post, LL. I enjoy it. I adore Alannis Morisette. Your singing sounds pretty! I LOVE to sing. Seriously, singing has often pulled me out of a potential plunge into depression.

I'm no vocal coach, or anything - but I thought that was pretty good singing, especially a capella.
Thanks for this!

Man, I got a 404 when trying to access your song.

When my ex-wife and I ran together, we would also sing together, just as we did on skis (NordicTrack) inside.

Neither of us (both raised Catholic*) could carry a tune. What we lacked in harmony, we made up with enthusiasm.

*I only discovered last week that the old classic, Why Catholics Can’t Sing has been revised and updated. It offers insight on why we can’t sing: A Catholic who can sing is a freak of nature.
