W. was George Herbert Walker Bush's son. I didn't vote for President Bush (or his son, W.), but had great respect for him & his wife (Barbara). They were wonderful human beings.
Thanks for this!

Yes, to clarify, it was George HW Bush who passed away, not George W. Bush.

I was not old enough to vote for HW so I can't comment on that. It's sad when any person dies, but he did live a very long life and had family and friends. They have my condolences.

I swear this year has been worse than 2016. We have lost so many great people. RIP George H.W Bush.

Sad for his family. Nice he had a long life.

Yes this has been a year of deaths. I lost 5 older friends at the beginning of this year within a few weeks of each other.....that's not even those who were public figures

One of my husband's friends worked in secret service and met and worked for both the Bushes and the Clintons. He said the Bush family was a VERY nice family that made it a point to acknowledge everyone and were VERY kind and friendly and personable. In contrast Hillary was described as very cold and would not want any eye contact nor did she show any desire to interact with staff or secret service in a friendly caring way. It was very interesting to hear from individuals who had first hand exposure to the people that have the power in our White House and political arena. People that worked with or around the Bush family including politicians on both sides of the isle as well as reporters and all kinds of staff talk about how it was a pleasure working for and with the Bushes, both the father and the son. Actually Bill Clinton ended up becoming good friends with Bush senior and said he was like a father Clinton wish he had had. He was a very approachable caring and respectful human being. May he rest in peace.

He was the first person I voted for.

But I can't feel too bad for him. He had quite a great life. Not only a solid marriage, head of the CIA, vice president and his son president of the USA... plus he passes at 94?

Can god smack me with whatever he gave George HW Bush? Very lucky man.
