my latest poll question.

would you tell someone that they smell?

usually no

usually it's something that hits me later on when I'm on my own- I get the air freshener out and start to make the place smell normal again.

though on 2 ocasions I have told people

once because the woman was embarrassing me in class, and once because someone had been to the gym and she "asked" me to mention to her when she started to smell
Thanks for this!

My son had to work right next to someone who he said had such a stench that he was nauseous. I’m not sure if he said something, and if the guy showered, moved his desk, or still sits next to him.

I'd say something but only if I knew them really well. Poor hygiene is my main pet peeve.

It really depends. Is it the result of poor hygiene? (yes). Is it the result of stale cigarette smoke? (you bet absolutely) Or is it a result of cultural differences such as food? (definitely no, I would respect that)

Depends on how well I know the person and what the situation is. If a good friend was going on a date or job interview for example I would tell them because I would want them to have a good outcome.

There sometime is a bad smell at work and I’ll ask if it’s me and my coworkers will say no it’s not me.

So I hope people would be honest with me if I ask if I smell. I would be honest with them if they asked.

I was in the supermarket the other day. I walked past three people. I assumed two were parents and one was the daughter. The young female reeked. Actually pungent. Had to wonder if she struggled mentally or had physical issues. I wasn't my place to say anything.

If I had to live with that smell I would have to say something.

I'm curious as to how you would address the cigarette smoke. You can't tell someone they cannot smoke on their own time or at their house or property right? If someone was wearing heavy perfume I would say something because heavy perfume bothers me. If someone had very bad hygiene I guess I'd have to weigh the importance of having someone in Barris them versus have me be comfortable. If it's cultural I definitely wouldn't say anything at

Politely, yes..

Buying them fragrances and personals can be a good way to indicate it too.

All depends on the person.
If they're sensitive, approach it sensitively.
If they are not, and a close friend, it's okay to be honest.

I mean it will help them out in the long run
